Role: The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with clients and the development team to provide clear business requirements and context setting based on their extensive insurance distribution industry knowledge. Working as part of the product development team, the senior BA will be responsible for producing formal requirements and providing guidance on features and system capabilities. Role: The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with clients and the development team to provide clear business requirements and context setting based on their extensive insurance distribution industry knowledge. Working as part of the product development team, the senior BA will be responsible for producing formal requirements and providing guidance on features and system capabilities. This role requires deep industry knowledge to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications that drive digital transformation initiatives.
Your Day with Equisoft:
- Analyze current business processes within insurance distribution channels (Managing General Agency's, National Account firms) to identify optimization opportunities
- Participate in client, internal and industry workshops as required (CAILBA, CLIEDIS, CIT's Feeds, Fundserv)
- Work closely with the technical team, product management and clients to document functional specifications that will benefit the core solution.
- Conceptualize business needs and processes into functional building blocks that fit in the capabilities of our existing software.
- Translate user stories from various unstructured requirements into business, functional and non-functional requirements (with acceptance criteria)
- Collaborate with UI experts to design user interfaces and create low fidelity wireframes and detailed screen specifications tasks.
- Assist the development team during the sprint (answer questions, review test cases, etc.)
- Participate in pre-planning sessions with the Development Team Lead and Product Owner to define next sprint priorities.
- Provide pre-sales support on the product from time to time.
Requirements:
Technical
- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma
- 5+ years working for a life insurance company or in a similar role, with at least 3 years focused on distribution channels
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create clear and concise requirement artifacts
- Proficient in business analysis techniques, including user story creation, process modeling and requirements elicitation
- Ability to translate complex business concepts into clear technical requirements
- Understanding of data security and privacy requirements in insurance
- Knowledge of the Life and Health insurance products and processes is an asset
- SQL knowledge & experience in a Microservice architecture environment is an asset
- Fluency in both written and spoken French and English

- A good understanding of the Insurance Industry, especially as it relates to Insurance Companies and the role Insurance Distribution firms play in the Canadian Insurance Eco-System

- Familiarity with API integrations and web services concepts
