Role Overview:
The Director of Transportation will lead all transportation and delivery functions at Julius Silvert, setting strategic direction for logistics, fleet management, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a proven leader who can optimize delivery operations, drive efficiency improvements, and ensure best-in-class service for our customers. The Director will oversee the entire transportation team, including managers, supervisors, and on-road personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute transportation strategies to enhance service, reduce costs, and improve efficiency across all delivery operations.
Fleet & Route Optimization: Oversee fleet management, route planning, and on-road operations to maximize productivity while minimizing downtime.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all FMCSA, DOT, and safety regulations, maintaining compliance and overseeing any required audits.
Team Leadership: Lead a multi-level team, including managers and supervisors, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Customer Experience: Work closely with customer service and operations teams to address delivery challenges and ensure an exceptional customer experience.
Budget Management: Prepare and manage budgets, track KPIs, and report on transportation metrics to executive leadership.
Qualifications:
10+ years in transportation or logistics, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven experience with fleet management, compliance, and strategic planning.
Strong leadership skills, with experience managing large teams and fostering a collaborative culture.
Familiarity with eLog software (e.g., Samsara), TMS, and route optimization tools.
