About the Role

This role covers Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) responsibilities at Altasciences CDMO Philadelphia, LLC site operations.

What You'll Do Here
  • Developing, implementing, and overseeing EHS programs and policies
  • Safeguarding employees' health and safety.
  • Evaluating work environments for risks and hazards.
  • Promoting workplace safety and environmental compliance.
  • Waste Management
  • Conducting regular EHS internal audits.
  • Providing regular EHS training to the site staff.
  • Managing and tracking state and federal level EHS related permits and certifications,
  • Implementing EHS continuous improvement initiatives,
  • Interacting with regulatory agencies at local, state and federal levels (OSHA, EPA, PADEP),
  • Monitoring and assessing new and updated local, state and federal level EHS regulations,
  • Coordinating with other Altasciences network and corporate EHS policies and initiatives,
  • Reporting and monitoring site EHS performance metrics.
  • Chairs and leads the site Safety Committee
  • Chairs and holds regular meetings with the Safety Committee.
  • Oversee train and manage performance and development of safety team.
  • Develop and execute EHS plans according to local, state and federal level regulations and corporate policies.
  • Enforce EHS policies to establish a strong EHS Culture.
  • Inspect equipment and facilities to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and work closely with Human Resources to process worker's compensation claims, as applicable,
  • Recommend solutions to EHS issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures,
  • Report on EHS awareness, escalation of issues, and performance metrics,
  • Act as the key contact for interactions with regulatory agencies at local, state and federal levels e.g., EPA, OSHA, DEA, PADEP,
  • Conduct internal audits and evaluate workplace EHS practices for compliance with corporate policies and regulations.
  • Implement workplace EHS processes and procedures that help protect employees from potentially hazardous conditions,
  • Investigate EHS incidents to identify causes and effects including proactive prevention measures,
  • Conduct regular training sessions on EHS practices and regulations,
  • Develop EHS emergency response plans.
  • Collect and report on environmental data and samples as required,
  • Apply knowledge of industrial EHS regulations to ensure safe and healthy working environments,
  • Conduct waste management controls and monitoring in close coordination with off-site waste management contractor.
  • Records and submits meeting minutes for all Safety Meetings.


What You'll Need to Succeed
  • BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred.
  • Continuous Education and Training Certification on EHS subjects is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an EHS officer.
  • In depth working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and PADEP regulations and procedures,
  • Working knowledge of EHS related regulatory inspection management,
  • Working knowledge of EHS related OSHA/EPA regulatory inspection management,
  • Working knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus,
  • Working knowledge of risk-management principles and practices,
  • Working knowledge of EHS accident and incident investigations,
  • Working knowledge of hazardous waste management practices,
  • Experience in writing EHS reports and policies,
  • Familiarity with conducting EHS data analysis and reporting of performance metrics,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office,
  • Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus,
  • Outstanding organizational skills,
  • Diligent with great attention to detail
  • Ability to present and explain EHS subjects.
