Job Description

The Senior Manager, Talent Management will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive talent management strategies, specifically focused on succession planning and talent assessments. This individual will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the organization's talent pipeline is aligned with its strategic objectives, ensuring leadership continuity and readiness across key business functions.

The role involves creating systems and processes to assess employee potential, develop future leaders, and ensure that the right talent is in place to drive the organization's success. This role will lead a team of professionals and collaborate across departments to manage the full lifecycle of talent development and succession planning.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Succession Planning:
  • Develop and execute a robust succession planning framework to ensure leadership continuity and strategic talent readiness for critical positions within the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to identify high-potential talent and create actionable development plans.
  • Create and maintain talent pools for key leadership and critical roles, ensuring that succession plans are actively updated and aligned with the company's goals.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of succession planning efforts, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal business disruption.

Talent Assessment:
  • Design and implement talent assessment tools, frameworks, and methodologies to evaluate employee potential, performance, and leadership capabilities.
  • Lead the creation of competency models and the identification of critical skills needed for current and future business needs.
  • Manage the deployment of talent assessments across the organization to evaluate potential leaders, high performers, and emerging talent.
  • Analyze assessment data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for leadership development, promotions, and career pathing.

Leadership Development:
  • Partner with Learning & Development to design and implement leadership development programs that align with succession planning and talent management objectives.
  • Ensure high-potential employees receive the necessary resources, mentorship, and development opportunities to prepare them for future leadership roles.
  • Evaluate leadership development effectiveness and refine programs to ensure alignment with business goals.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders to understand talent needs and ensure alignment with organizational strategies.
  • Communicate talent management strategies, progress, and results to senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Lead discussions around talent assessments and succession planning with executives to ensure transparency and alignment.

Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Leverage data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of talent management initiatives, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide reports and dashboards on talent pipeline progress, assessment results, and succession planning metrics.

Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead and mentor a team of talent management professionals, ensuring the team is equipped with the skills and knowledge to execute strategies effectively.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and high performance within the talent management team.
  • Lead the planning and administration of employee engagement surveys, including vendor selection and project management.
  • Analyze survey results and collaborate with leadership to develop and implement action plans.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in talent management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on succession planning, talent assessments, and leadership development.
  • Proven experience in performance management, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Strong expertise in developing and implementing succession planning and talent assessment processes.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate talent objectively, using a variety of tools and methodologies.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience leveraging analytics to inform decision-making and measure impact.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience developing and mentoring talent management professionals.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and strategic planning skills.
  • Experience working with HRIS and talent management systems.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or relevant professional certifications preferred
  • Experience with talent management software or tools (e.g., SuccessFactors, Workday, Cornerstone).
  • Knowledge of organizational development, change management, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Familiarity with global talent management practices and cross-cultural leadership development.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment


Additional Information:
  • Hybrid, prefer working within a branch office 1-3X per week
  • This position supports US and Canada workforce
  • This position generally works Monday- Friday, overtime and on call when necessary


Essential Functions:
  • Travel 10%-25% covering US and Canada
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
