Job Summary

Under general direction, is responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of City vehicles and construction equipment at assigned service center. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Work Hours/Schedule
  • 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday
  • Schedule may be adjusted to 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday as needed


Essential Job Functions

  • Supervises the daily activities of assigned service center.
  • Administers and coordinates the leasing, maintenance and repair of the City's vehicle fleet.
  • Monitors preventative maintenance and repairs performed at assigned service centers.
  • Performs administrative functions related to supervising, such as counseling, performance evaluations, training, etc. operating office equipment.
  • Makes recommendations regarding labor rates for maintenance and repair work.
  • Assists with budget preparation.
  • Assists other City departments with the selection of off-road equipment.
  • Evaluates and recommends annual contract bids for parts and service.
  • Evaluates and recommends acceptance of bids for purchase of off- road and heavy equipment.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressive responsible experience in managing the leasing, maintenance, and repairs of large fleets of vehicles.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with fleet management software
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications

  • Skill in operating office equipment and utilizing rudimentary software.
  • Ability to analyze vehicle and equipment faults and modify repairs and preventative maintenance procedures to effect solutions.
  • Ability to forecast the City's vehicle and equipment requirements.
  • Ability to direct the activities of a large number of employees.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
  • Working conditions are primarily in a shop environment with exposure to dust, noise and dangerous equipment and materials.
