Description:
Manage Software Quality teams directly, including team leaders and supervisors, set departmental priorities, and allocate resources to meet business objectives and annual plans. Emphasize process and continuous improvement to ensure ongoing enhancement of team performance and efficiency.
Spearhead project planning efforts and integrate software quality improvements into projects by allocating necessary personnel and equipment and securing additional resources across the organization based on project requirements and business priorities.
Emphasize the development of capabilities and the formulation of capital maintenance and investment plans to ensure the department's operational capacity is sustained and enhanced.
Provide project-level leadership and coordinate efforts across cross-functional teams, customers, and stakeholders.
Identify and solve complex operational and organizational problems related to software quality using appropriate resources. Implement continuous improvement strategies to address and prevent future issues.
Support Software Quality Assurance Engineers in conducting reviews of design and architecture for high-complexity software projects, ensuring products are efficient, modular, and of high quality, and lead test planning and optimization efforts.
Support Software Quality Assurance Engineers in devising test strategies to meet quality and functional requirements and identify gaps and solutions. Promote incorporating automation acceleration to enhance testing efficiency and reliability.
Accelerate automation to streamline processes and improve project outcomes.
Support Software Development in Test Engineers in devising automation test strategies to meet quality, functional and performance requirements and identify gaps and solutions. Promote continuous improvement in automation approach, tools, applications as well as automation coverage.
Serve as the internal and external contact for issue identification, communication, and resolution, especially for software quality concerns.
Interact with and influence internal and external customers, seek and address Voice of Customer (VoC) feedback, and act as a point of escalation for external customers regarding software quality issues.
Identify, track and continuously refine appropriate metrics that are aligned with organizational goals. Conduct project metrics reviews and initiate preventive/corrective actions.
Monitor compliance with all Quality Engineering and VBS processes across projects, and identify areas of improvement
Training and mentoring
Uses broad business knowledge to consider cross-project risks and impacts, as the impact on other processes and additional testing needs. Understands the overall project or program benefits and how the delivered solution impacts these.
Responsibilities also include all the following:
o Staffing needs, to include interviewing and onboarding for new employees.
o Training and development, as well as coaching and motivation for staff.
o Performance Management, goal setting, employee engagement, and salary administration.
o Workforce Management to include: unit equipment, software, and space needs; approving time off and overtime usage; and budget recommendations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to interface with customers and external stakeholders.
Proven experience of 5-10 years in leading different size teams with a mix of team leaders and professional employees, accountable for the performance and results of team and multiple sub-teams.
Ability to develop departmental plans, including business, production, and organizational priorities, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
Comprehensive understanding of Software Quality concepts and principles, with knowledge of related disciplines.
Expertise in Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and exposure to development, manufacturing, Hardware reliability and automation.
Ability to analyze and challenge design and test specifications, providing architectural guidance to ensure software quality.
Ability to build team structures to support organizational objectives.
Ability to act as an escalation point for internal customers and build strong relationships regarding software quality issues.
