Position Summary

The Director of Project and Process Management is a leadership role focused on overseeing and optimizing the execution of projects and processes. This position blends both project management and process management responsibilities, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, while also focusing on the efficiency of the processes involved. The role requires exceptional leadership and critical thinking skills along with expertise in portfolio and project management methodologies and business process redesign.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience that equates to four years.
Four years of experience in process analysis, project management, or related leadership roles, preferably in higher education or a complex organizational setting.
Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex projects and portfolios.
Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and influence others.
Expert knowledge of portfolio and project management methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
Expertise in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, BPMN) and data analytics.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on results.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Team Dynamix) and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a higher education or non-profit environment.
Experience with the execution of high-complexity, high-impact, and high-visibility projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives driving collaboration and agreement among high-level executives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Oversees multiple projects, ensuring they align with business objectives. This involves resource allocation, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
Monitors the health and performance of the project portfolio, ensuring resources are optimized across initiatives.
Develops and implements policies, standards, and best practices for project management and process analysis and optimization.
Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy for process analysis and improvement across the university.
Analyzes existing processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Oversees and manages a team of business process analysts and project managers, ensuring the successful delivery of projects, including process improvement projects.
Aligns project and process goals with the organization's broader strategic objectives. This often involves collaborating with other departments.
Tracks the progress of projects and processes, evaluates outcomes, and ensures continuous improvement.
Provides regular reports and dashboards to senior leadership on portfolio performance, risks, and outcomes.
Manages and guides the organization through changes in processes or project approaches, which may include training staff or adjusting workflows.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including academic and administrative leaders, to ensure alignment and support for initiatives.
Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams.
Serves as a champion for project and portfolio management and business process efficiency across the university.
