Job Summary: Leads a technical team of engineers and researchers through the innovation and development of new HVAC products and technologies. Requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills and strategic vision to drive our research and development initiatives forward.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements R&D strategies aligned with long-term company objectives and industry trends.
- Manages R&D system projects from inception to completion, overseeing planning, execution, and ensuring projects are within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Defines project milestones, deliverables, and resource requirements to ensure successful outcomes.
- Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Product Engineering, product management, Marketing, and manufacturing to align R&D efforts with business goals.
- Communicates project status, technical challenges, and solutions effectively to stakeholders and senior management.
- Drives innovation by identifying new opportunities, technologies, or processes that enhance product performance or create new market opportunities.
- Ensures R&D activities comply with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and company policies.
- Leads a team of engineers and researchers in the design, development, and testing of new HVAC products and technologies.
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Implements quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of product reliability and performance.
- Recruits, hires, and develops a talented engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Conducts performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support career development initiatives for team members.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year ABET accredited degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree in Applied Sciences.
- Minimum of 6 years in the HVAC industry or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong technical background in mechanical engineering, refrigeration design and thermal dynamics with a track record of successful product development.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to innovate and drive change within a dynamic environment.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced, high-pressure environment, sitting or standing for up to 95% of work hours, and periodic visits to the manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
