You'll be responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with Barrett's vision to WOW our customers, partners, and fellow employees with every interaction.

The Position:
The Manager, Project Management, reporting to the Director, PMO, leads a team of project managers responsible for delivering enterprise and regional initiatives. Projects can range from new customer onboarding, system deployments, new facility stand-ups, and continuous improvement efforts.

This position works Monday through Friday, from 8am-5pm.

The compensation for this position ranges from $135K-$145K/year, depending on experience.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Develops, implements, and trains staff on project management best practices, processes, tools, and templates to constantly improve delivery speed and quality
  • Creates an environment of continuous improvement by encouraging creative problem solving and experimentation within organizational and policy guardrails
  • Develops direct reports by establishing personal objectives, evaluating performance, and provide mentoring and support
  • Leads by example by producing high quality deliverables under aggressive timelines
  • Produces clear and succinct written and verbal communications, framing messages appropriately to different audience and management levels
  • Ensures project records are kept up to date, risks tracked, and issues are resolved
  • Builds dashboards, creates and disseminates reports out of Clarizen, our project management system
  • Leads in complex environments and can choose the appropriate course of action when information is incomplete or lacking
  • Understands and analyzes work to identify trends, determine the root cause of project challenges, and suggest changes or improvements that could improve performance, efficiency, quality, or compliance
  • Attracts, develops, and retains high performing, diverse talent within the business; builds future leaders through mentoring and serving as a role model
  • Applies Waterfall and Agile methodologies appropriately to achieve desired business objectives
  • Develops and conducts reviews of Project Manager deliverables to ensure consistent compliance to PMO policies and standards
  • Occasionally leads high profile projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Travel required up to 25% of the time to Barrett Distribution Centers Facilities


What You Bring to the Table:
  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in the field of business administration, information systems, project management or similar field. May substitute 8+ years of directly related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Certificates in project management strongly preferred (e.g. CSM, PMP, SaFE, CAPM)
    Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferred
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years as Project Manager, Program Manager, Scrum Master, Business Analyst, or similar role, managing a variety of projects, including technology and operations initiatives
  • One (1) to three (3) years in a management role, ideally managing project managers, business analysts, or similar roles
  • Previous experience in warehousing, 3PL, distribution, or similar industries strongly preferred
  • Expert level knowledge of all aspects of the project lifecycle including scope definition, work planning, estimating/budgeting, resource planning, risk assessment, expectation management, and issue management
  • Hands-on experience managing projects with project management software, such as MS Project, Clarizen, JIRA or similar applications
  • Advanced skills in all Microsoft business applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Displays energy, enthusiasm, and an even temperament, particularly during stressful situations.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, able to negotiate effectively with customers and internal stakeholder to achieve team objectives
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and the ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
