PURPOSE
The AI/ML Software Applications Developer/Programmer III (SDIII) serves as the technical lead for software development projects, supervising and mentoring junior developers while independently delivering high-quality AI/ML-driven web and server-based software solutions for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). This role ensures compliance with technical standards, provides oversight of development efforts, and collaborates with stakeholders to drive software architecture, system optimization, and integration. Additionally, the SDIII reports on project status, technical challenges, and progress to management.

PURPOSE

RESPONSIBILITIES
Software Development: 50%
- Develop, modify, debug, test, and maintain C#/.NET, JavaScript, Python, and web-based applications.
- Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models and algorithms.
- Train, test, and optimize AI/ML models for production environments.
- Integrate AI/ML components into web-based and backend systems.
- Ensure security, scalability, and maintainability of applications.
- Approve coding designs and coordinate the integration of multiple code bases.
- Provide technical oversight, ensuring adherence to development best practices and standards.
- Oversee the review and analysis of software documentation and production results to facilitate problem resolution.
- Develop and approve test plans for AI/ML and software solutions.
- Participate in data architecture design, system optimization, and performance tuning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership and Mentorship: 30%
- Supervise and mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and career development support.
- Provide technical oversight for development projects and enforce best coding practices.
- Conduct code reviews, system integration efforts, and software design evaluations.
- Evaluate software products and programming languages, recommending adoption when applicable.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on AI/ML best practices and methodologies.
- Foster innovation and collaboration by maintaining personal networks and participating in organizational activities.
Project Management and Compliance: 20%
- Collaborate with project leaders to develop work plans, project timelines, and resource allocation.
- Maintain documentation, user manuals, and technical reports to ensure project continuity.
- Conduct systems analysis and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Ensure databases, applications, and procedures are updated and well-documented.
- Protect operations by ensuring data security and confidentiality.
- Continuously update knowledge on emerging technologies, programming techniques, and development tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Strong understanding of AI/ML algorithms and experience deploying models in production environments
- Experience in full-stack web development (C#, ASP.NET Core, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST APIs)
- Experience in database development (MSSQL, T-SQL)
- Proficiency with Git and version control workflows (CI/CD)
Leadership and Problem-Solving
- Experience leading AI/ML projects and mentoring junior team members
- Ability to either work in a team environment or independently with minimal guidance
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks, resources, and time effectively
- Strong leadership and stakeholder communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or a related field
- Experience in UAS software development and GIS applications
- AI/ML certifications or published AI/ML research
- Experience with DevOps tools (Docker, CI/CD, Kubernetes)
SALARY: Up to $7,500.00 Monthly ($90,000.00 Annual, Salary dependent upon education and experience)
