Summary:
This position provides leadership in the organization or functional area and is primarily engaged in
management activities that establish the direction of a department, function, or project. The position
requires the application of knowledge gained from experience and expertise to the job duties and
responsibilities. The position will make decisions in areas that may impact the organization and its
employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs.
Scope:
The Project Automation Director will report to the Project Chief Information Officer and has oversight for the technical support personnel who support the
various reference systems which include various engineering/design, supply chain/procurement, and construction automation systems, and many other
global project execution systems and tools. These technical support personnel/subject matter experts (SMEs)
provide the various levels of user support, project setup & configuration, and any
special project/client modifications required.
Basic Job Requirements
Manage the department as well as develop and manage Project Automation Specialists (PAS)
functional initiatives and new system implementations
Contribute to, promote, and ensure effective knowledge sharing behaviors in the use of Fluor's
knowledge management portals and communities
Engage in proposal and sales activities, development of proposals and establish key client
relationships
Provide direction and guidance for PAS providing configuration and office support for the
technologies
Work with the Project Information Manager (PIM) to analyze any technical implementation or
configuration modifications/concerns with technical solutions
Analyze, evaluate, and improve the technology support methodologies and
implementation requirements
Engage Information Technology (IT) management for implementing and maintaining solutions within the Fluor infrastructure
Perform all project automation management functions related to the technology(s) supported
Develop and manage departmental budgets (as required)
Provide talent development opportunities and manage succession plans for key resources
Provide client or project presentations as requested
Provide direction and management for all local project support for project application support
personnel
Ensure change management best practices are in place for software upgrades, bug fixes, and
software enhancements
Establish and enforce process guidelines to ensure end user documentation and training is in
place
Protect Fluor's intellectual property and confidentiality of information
Assist Information Technology (IT) in evaluating technology impact to Fluor infrastructure and
systems
Typically manage personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional
advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development
opportunities ,and timely performance feedback
Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently
across all business lines, functions, and locations
Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and
recommend/implement appropriate course of action
Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and
timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
May need to travel to attend to business related matters
Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
Other duties as assigned

Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or;
Various levels of environmental conditions including but not limited to project worksites and
vendor/client facilities which may have temporary office space, moving mechanical parts and
vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and extreme temperatures and
high noise levels

Preferred Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering or computer science is
preferred or equivalent technical experience
Eighteen (18) years experience in project, Information Technology, discipline technical support,
or Project Automation
Good knowledge of Information Technology in:
Desktop/laptop environment and general office tools
Infrastructure (Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN),
telecommunications, etc.)
Electronic security and governance
Electronic communications
Network operations and support
Software development, implementation, and support
Knowledge of Automation technology and systems integration including:
Superior knowledge of the Fluor Engineering, Procurement, and Construction solutions
Superior knowledge of the tool integration capabilities and discipline integration needs
Superior knowledge of the automation technologies
Vendor certification in Automation/Information Technology/Information Management
technologies (when available)

Typical Minimum Qualifications - Related Education, Experience & Skills:
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and eighteen
(18) years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related
experience equal to twenty two (22) years* if non-degreed; some locations may have additional
or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to
management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national
statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
