Are you a Registered Respiratory Therapist looking for a leadership position to showcase your abilities? The Women and Children's units at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre are looking for a Respiratory Therapist III. The position requires an expert clinician with progressive ideas and energetic leadership qualities. This role is responsible for fostering, facilitating and achieving the highest standards of evidence-based practice. They practice within the pillars of the AHS and demonstrate AHS values. The RRTIII provides leadership, mentorship, quality and patient safety as well as enhancement of respiratory therapy care in all clinical areas. This position is responsible for the day-to-day respiratory services in the Women and Children's portfolio. The RRTIII will act as a consistent liaison and resource for staff, physicians and students in the designated clinical areas as well as affiliated educational programs with AHS. Collaboration with the leadership team is of paramount importance in this role to support the learning needs of the Respiratory Therapists as well as for program development, evaluation and enhancement. Other roles required within this position include direct patient care, patient and family education, equipment management, education of staff and students, involvement with recruitment and retention of team members and participates in the strategic direction of the Respiratory Program within the clinical area. The primary area of focus of this RRTIII will be the NICU, Pediatrics and Obstetrics at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.

Required Qualifications:
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of 0.5 FTE or greater experience as an RRT within the last 5 years, in an acute care facility. Experience in the last 2 years in a Level II or III NICU with an ability to demonstrate competence with neonatal intubation and case room management. Current NRP. Current BLS-HCP Certification. The following physical requirements: Being on one's feet for extended periods of time (walking and standing). Transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. Able to bend, lift, push and pull equipment. Exposure to infectious diseases, and hazardous situations for which they are trained. Preferred Qualifications:
Prior leadership experience and/or leadership training courses. Current PALS/ACLS. Current NRP/BLS/ACLS/PALS instructor certification. Current Adult/pediatric intubation and arterial line insertion certifications. Prior involvement with quality improvement initiatives or other committee work. Demonstrated ability with interpersonal skills and conflict management. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and problem solve. Current orientation to RDRHC. Formal Preceptor Training Courses.
