Job Summary
The primary role of the position is to lead a team of power system engineers to develop and prioritize projects and programs to resolve identified issues on the distribution system. The manager would be the owner of the Advanced Metering Initiative (AMI) use cases developed for asset management. The team will be responsible for identifying problems on the distribution system associated with voltage regulation, circuit overloads and power quality, and developing resolutions to the issues. The team will also provide technical reviews for developer/DER installation requests to assess reliability and power quality impacts to the system. The team will have direct interactions with the electric divisions and customers. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for prioritizing system reinforcement projects identified by the divisions and will be the owner of the distribution circuit overload process. The manager will employ the use of load flow modeling (i.e. CYME), AMI and other necessary tools to determine impacts to the distribution system. This is a customer facing position with a focus on resolving customer power quality issues.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for analysis of distribution voltage violations and development of distribution projects to resolve distribution voltage regulation issues. Perform circuit analysis using AMI use cases, CYME load flow and other tools. Prioritization of projects, project tracking, collaboration with Division engineering departments and development and execution of dashboard/communications protocol with leadership.
Provide power quality support for the company. Work with division engineering and customer operations to help resolve large scale power quality inquiries. Interface directly with industrial, commercial and residential customers as necessary to assess problems and communicate possible resolutions.
Responsible for prioritization of distribution overload system reinforcement projects for overload violations and circuit balancing and general distribution load flow issues. Perform circuit analysis using CYME and any other needed technical tools. Prioritization of projects, project tracking, collaboration with division engineering departments and development and execution of dashboard/communications protocol with leadership.
Responsible for technical response and support for Distributed Energy Resource requests. Perform modeling as required to assess reliability impacts, provide timely feedback to external and internal customers to review/approve design, support regulatory issues such as FERC2222, NJ Storage Incentive Program and other grid modernization initiatives.
Job Specific Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
10 years' experience working in energy industry
Previous management experience with proven leadership qualities
