Level Descriptions:

Level 1 - Must be able to achieve many objectives of this position. Requires some amount of timely supervision to ensure the proper tasks are being accomplished and that communication is adequate, timely, in the correct manner (i.e. verbal, written, email, etc.)

Level 2 - Consistently achieves all of the objectives of this position. This individual also provides mentoring and direct day-to-day supervision to level 1 positions.

Senior - Highly experienced in the position. Has advanced skills and knowledge of complex HVAC systems, HVAC controls systems, controls programming, and systems integration. Ability to successfully lead complex projects in the field and support the growth of less experienced programmers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and execution of all tasks associated with Programmer I and II roles, including troubleshooting, system integration, and application of standards.
  • Provide Controls database, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the Design Engineer, project specifications, or other applicable sources.
  • Provide accurate controls of systems start-up and commissioning including point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned.
  • Support installation personnel on project sites.
  • Provide information and support for other contractors on project site.
  • Debug installation issues during both the static and dynamic start up and commissioning of building controls. Provide support to Climatec and other contractors to solve building operating issues that go beyond the controls or special systems operation.
  • Provide input to others as requested or required to assist in the accurate estimation, design, installation, start up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
  • Provide start up documentation including daily logs, check out logs, commissioning documents, etc. as required for assigned projects.
  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
  • Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.
  • Provide service support on existing systems ensuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility's building engineers.
  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and Operation & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Assist in turnover of projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
  • Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations.
  • As necessary, travel will be required to the job site to complete startup, commissioning and assistance to the onsite personnel to complete the project. This will be on a case-by-case basis, depending on the size, scope, and requirements of the project(s).
  • Expertly use Niagara Program Service, including advanced capabilities of program objects and robots, to optimize system performance and functionality.
  • Apply a deep understanding of control system design to manage and execute complex projects, ensuring a seamless transition from design to implementation.
  • Exhibit a high level of expertise in industry-standard communication protocols, and their application within the Tridium Niagara platform and controller programming.
  • Fully grasp ECS graphics and programming standards to ensure all projects meet company quality and consistency requirements.
  • Handle the integration of third-party network controllers with expertise, ensuring compatibility and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize N4 tagging and analytics to enhance system monitoring, reporting, and performance optimization.
  • Be available for occasional travel to support and oversee complex projects, providing on-site expertise as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to Programmer I and II team members, assisting with complex issues and mentoring as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in HVAC control systems, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in programming and system integration.
  • An understanding of computer operating systems including MS Office Suite of products.
  • The ability to configure and debug computer and networking problems.
  • A clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • The ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
  • A working understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers, multi-phase power, etc. (120VAC and greater) Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome and customer and employee satisfaction.
  • A thorough understanding of HVAC operations within a facility if working in the controls field.
  • Deep familiarity with the Niagara software, including advanced programming and system management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of control system design, with proven ability to manage complex projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to address and resolve complex technical issues and provide support to junior team members.
  • Strong communication skills and leadership abilities to guide and support the team effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience with complex control systems projects, showcasing advanced skills and leadership in the field.
  • Practical experience with N4 tagging and analytics for improved system management and performance.
  • Proven track record of successful third-party network controller integrations, demonstrating expertise in handling diverse system requirements.
  • Experience with one or more of the following controller product lines: Honeywell CIPer, Alerton, and/or Distech
  • Experience performing controls work in hospitals, schools, and military complexes.
  • Successful experience performing controls retrofits within occupied facilities.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc.
  • Be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites.
  • Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site.
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec's vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive on company business.
  • Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl.
