Position Description:

The Construction Manager (CM) is the Company's "management representative" and is responsible for the safe completion of his/her projects within budget, on schedule, to the company's quality standards, and to the customer's satisfaction. It is his or her responsibility to initiate required action to achieve these objectives and to ensure all project activities are consistent with contract documents and the Company's policies. The CM's duties will vary as required to support the project team.

Position Qualifications:
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business preferred.
  • Professional accreditations desirable.
  • Ten years' experience in Construction required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to function as part of a high-performance team.
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations and building systems.
  • Familiarity with strategic planning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in mobile work environment.
  • Software proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite) and report writing applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Duties:
  • Ensure safety is properly incorporated into job planning and execution; promote accountability among staff members and subcontractors as it relates to the project safety policies; and enforce these policies by actively participating in all safety-related functions.
  • Pre-job planning and mobilization.
  • Purchasing responsibility.
  • Scheduling.
  • Maintain open communication through regular visits with the customer and Architect/Engineer and probe for problems which may not be obvious to jobsite personnel.
  • Ensure Project and Office Engineers have the knowledge, ability, and workload to properly review and process submittals in a timely manner through tracking of submittal transmittal and delivery logs.
  • Expediting of vendors and subcontractors.
  • Progress Payments from Owner and to Subcontractors.
  • Change orders and change estimates.
  • Weekly and monthly review of job cost reports and preparation of monthly analysis.
  • Carefully analyze cost and schedule problems and initiate alternatives which will cause a course correction.
  • Ensure the Quality Control Plan is set up for the project; set the tone for enforcing the quality standards for the project by attending and participating in the buyout and pre-mobilization meetings; and be alert to a deviation from our quality standards and ensure proper corrective action is initiated. Implement the Commissioning Manual to ensure a properly function building.
  • Recruitment and personnel evaluation, development, and retention.
  • Remain current with industry best practices and new technology.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Construction Manager or as required by the project team.

Physical Work Classification & Demands:
  • Moderate Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity.
  • Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, boxes, cabinets, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.
  • Constantly computes, analyzes, and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas.
  • The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.
  • Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
  • Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at various heights.
  • Balancing - Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.
  • Stooping - Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.
  • Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
  • Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures.
  • Frequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
