Your Opportunity
As a Senior Estimator at Stantec, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating large multi-discipline heavy civil cost estimates and construction schedules. You will work with a dynamic team of cost estimators, schedulers and construction engineers in Stantec's construction engineering group. You will be a productive leader on the team and will mentor and support others in the development of their skills. You will be responsible for coordinating teams of discipline estimators, and the position will frequently require the direct estimating of at least one project discipline.
The position will have the responsibility to support exciting, complex projects throughout the world ranging from approximately $1 million to $2 billion. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and development of cost estimates and schedules for design teams at traditional project development milestones.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the timely development of comprehensive multi-discipline cost estimates and construction schedules.
- Prepare advanced cost estimates for complex projects and serve as the primary cost estimating point of contact for clients.
- Compile and integrate information from all estimating disciplines into unified cost estimates.
- Establish site-specific estimating criteria, including wage rates and person-hour productivity metrics.
- Validate material takeoffs and construction quantities from technical drawings.
- Perform thorough quality control of construction documents and prepare comprehensive basis of cost estimate reports for end users.
- Review design specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities for competitive pricing.
- Identify and assess project risks, quantify their potential cost and schedule impacts, and contribute to the development of comprehensive Cost and Schedule Risk Analyses (CSRAs)
- Prepare and coordinate constructability reviews for engineering designs.
- Interface with designated management and client counterparts on specific estimating tasks.
- Provide support for procurement, change orders, and claims valuation and negotiations.
- Propose innovative solutions for construction and estimating challenges, contributing design ideas to improve project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance procedures and tools for cost estimating.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in cost estimation and construction management.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Extensive technical knowledge of cost/estimating, engineering design, and construction practice and applicable standards and procedures
- Expertise in one or more of the following estimating disciplines: buildings, heavy civil/structural, and/or marine construction.
- Advanced understanding of different contract methods and how they apply to estimating.
- Experience with one or more scheduling software packages (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Experience abiding by U.S. federal guidelines for completing cost estimates and construction schedules.
- Proficiency in using the MCACES MII cost estimating platform.
- Proficiency in using other database-driven estimating platforms such as Sage Timberline Estimating, InEight, and RS Means.
- Experience working with other discipline estimators to develop a comprehensive project estimate.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present cost estimating projects.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation.
- Ability to guide and mentor estimating team members in engineering and construction based estimating techniques and methodologies.
- Ability to travel for site reconnaissance and interfacing with clients and stakeholders (domestic and some international travel may be periodically required).
- Positive attitude with strong relationship building skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in an estimating and construction role is required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience estimating costs for building structures is required.
- Additional field and estimating experience in heavy civil, tunnel, or marine construction required.

- $128,600 - $193,000 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in MN, NYC/NY
- $112,300 - $168,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
- CA Other Areas $112,300 - CA Other Areas $168,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
