As a Chief Investment Officer, essential responsibilities include:
- Provides oversight and supervision to third party managers engaged on behalf of discretionary clients.
- Responsible for the asset quality and process management of model portfolios.
- Oversees the activity of regional investment officers and research staff.
- Manages brokerage affiliations in compliance with SWM policy.
- Personally involved in the active management of large or sensitive client relationships and supports the new business acquisitions process on a case appropriate basis.
- Establishes, implements and oversees investment policies for individual, fiduciary and corporate clients.
- Implements portfolio designs for individual, fiduciary and corporate clients.
- Oversees the bond, equity, and fund-oriented investments for individual trust and advisory accounts.
- Oversees all investment strategies, ensuring investment due diligence, monitoring and performance tracking.
- Establishes, implements and oversees investment processes to ensure investment policies are following.
- Responsible for asset allocation and risk management across portfolios for individual, fiduciary and corporate clients.
- Through a high level of oversight, ensure compliance requirements are met and sustained in accordance with STAR policies, procedures, standards, regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
- Recruit, lead, manage, and develop a diverse team of employees using effective training, performance assessment and coaching techniques, capable of competing and winning in the marketplace.
- Manages and coaches the staff in addition to other Human Resource responsibilities such as: hiring, and if necessary disciplinary action and dismissal, setting and monitoring annual and quarterly goals, training, completing timely performance appraisals, and approving merit increases.
- Develop investment policies and procedures to protect the bank.
- Chairs the SWM Investment Committee.
- Establish clearly defined goals and execute strategic sales and operational plans to achieve sound and profitable growth.
- Maximize sales performance through effective market planning, sales management and coaching.
- Maintain and develop relationships with centers of influence.
- Oversee business development and calling activities for investment staff.
- Maintain and develop client relationships. Participate in joint call efforts with sales staff.
- Represents STAR in community organizations and professional associations.
Skills Needed
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal examination processes.
- Highly detail oriented and analytical.
- Demonstrated skills working with statistical techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate across all organizational levels complex information.
- Organizational skills to manage on demand requests, projects and daily duties.
- Presentation and communication skills across large and small groups, including live presentations.
