Description:

Aleut Federal is seeking a Configuration and Change Manager. As the Configuration and Change Manager you will work on all aspects of IT configuration management (software, hardware & network/infrastructure) for existing and future capabilities. You will play a key role in developing, implementing and managing the change process, ensuring approvals and compatibility of requested changes, assisting project managers in meeting customer objectives and educating the populace of the changes and subsequent effects thus ensuring buy-in and a smooth transition. You will provide overall configuration management support to systems on multiple DoD programs. You will work closely with the engineers to document various segments of the system and develop the existing top-level configuration management processes and documentation, to include developing, implementing, and enforcing a change & configuration management process that captures changes from each phase of the system lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.)
  • Builds and staffs all system changes to appropriate AoR
  • Supports the effective integration of new IT capabilities and modification of existing capabilities
  • Review and analyze proposed changes to ensure operational and sustainment capabilities are not adversely affected by the changes
  • Maintain design traceability and integrity
  • Manage configurations of software, engineering documents, design drawings, engineering changes and notices, and plan/conduct design audits.
  • Ensures integrity of the baseline including major releases, minor releases, patches, and software maintenance
  • Support Licensing tasks and packaging and delivering of software to users
  • Maintain the CM library and software repository
  • Utilize model based systems engineering methods and tools
  • Manages the identification, consolidation, validation and tracking of identified capability shortfalls and associated mission needs
  • Supports in the prioritization of identified mission support shortfalls/needs, and suggested courses of action to mitigate the impact of known deficiencies/enhancements
  • Presents systems status at Configuration Control Board (CCB)/Configuration Control Working Group (CCWG) meeting
  • Supporting developmental and operational systems
  • Using or recommending automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures
  • Developing or modifying CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system
  • Implementing CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of-life
  • Performing change control and configuration audits
  • Ensures that the CM environment facilitates product review, change, and defect tracking activities.
  • Includes updating the CM plan and reporting progress based on change requests, understanding configuration management principles, and the use of CM tools.
  • Responsible for the execution of the process which includes operating the defined and agreed process, ensuring it interfaces with all other relevant processes, reviewing the effectiveness and efficiency of the process, performing process audits, and managing the process improvement cycle.
  • Regulate the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software, licenses, media, and other IT assets
  • Ensure that all changes to the baselines go through appropriate change boards
  • Conduct Change Management activities across multiple programs.
  • Direct and mentor Customer Request/Technical Analysts
  • Provide process training to Customer Request/Technical Analysts as needed
  • Assist with the Customer Requirements validation process when necessary
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.


Requirements:

  • Must possess a current TS (SCI eligible)
  • Configuration Management experience within the Department of Defense environment
  • Must have experience interacting with technical and business stakeholders
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Detailed oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
  • Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
  • Knowledge of ISO and CMMI.


Preferred:

  • Military and/or government experience a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Information Technology, Computer Science or Management
  • Knowledge of EIA-649B and MIL-STD-973 Configuration Management Principles as they apply to both Hardware and Software
  • Understanding of DoD-STD-963 "Data Item Descriptions" and DD Form 1423's including formatting requirements included therein
  • ITIL certification a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Certified Associate Project Management (CAPM) credential a plus
  • Experience using ServiceNow as the primary CMDB
  • Experience streamlining CM process to maintain a robust process with continuous improvement to speed up the process


Locations: This position will be expected to perform duties at any customer facilities within Colorado Springs.

Rate: $105K - $120K
