CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA

Business Capability Enablement (BCE) together with Infrastructure & Operations (I&O), and the IT Security Office form the CMPA IT team.

Business Capability Enablement (BCE) is the central part of the overall support model that includes end-users, subject matter experts (SMEs), and business capability owners with oversight from a corporate governance process. BCE's cross-functional teams are comprised of software developers, business analysts, website development and content management professionals, along with user experience experts who follow flexible and agile ways of working to deliver business value through building and maintenance of business-critical systems which are integral to member service and corporate operations. This team is also responsible for providing effective user support, by continuously improving business processes and systems, by proactively leveraging future capabilities while maintaining secure and reliable systems, avoiding technical debt, and by providing a consistent experience for both employees and members.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead, Enterprise Operations Systems leads a team of business analysts who self manage their work in alignment with organizational priorities. The incumbent oversees the end-user business system and business support process, liaising with leadership groups across corporate operations capabilities with a focus on Workday (including Financial Management, HCM, Time and Attendance, Payroll, etc.), legal billing, and membership revenue systems. The incumbent is also a champion for the Subject Matter Experts and Business Capability Owner network as they adapt to agile methodologies. The incumbent is a caring leader who motivates their team by creating an environment where employees feel empowered to contribute and feel engaged by their contributions. The Lead works with the other members of BCE and the broader IT leadership team as well as the Scrum Master to ensure that departmental and organizational priorities are addressed appropriately. The incumbent possesses excellent communication skills and is committed to supporting the development of each person on the team, so everyone is enabled to do their best work.

POSITION ACTIVITIES

Business Application Management
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with business stakeholders, acting as a liaison between business users and technical teams to define system requirements, functionalities, and improvements
  • Oversees the execution of system upgrades, enhancements, and bug fixes, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruptions to business operations
  • In collaboration with Business Capability Owners and Capability teams, ensures Capability roadmaps are updated (and consolidated for the purposes of the corporate view)
  • Supports the application of, and compliance with, applicable CMPA policies (i.e. Privacy, RIM, etc.), Security and access standards as they apply to internal operations and member services


User Support
  • Ensures that operational issues and bugs are resolved efficiently
  • Supports the team in proactively addressing recurring issues and areas of inefficiency
  • Ensures that the appropriate processes and tools are in place to support end users effectively in their day-to-day tasks
  • Supports the team to ensure effective testing and support is provided through the vendor application upgrade process


People Leadership
  • Provides leadership to a team of Business Analysts through coaching and performance development by providing regular performance feedback and by seeking input and preparing employee performance reviews
  • Supports the career development of team members; ensures employees have the skills and competencies they need now and in the future by helping team members allocate time for learning and identifying shared learning and leadership opportunities
  • Creates an employee experience in which team members feel included, accepted for who they are, and supported in doing their best work
  • Performs capacity planning and ensures staff is available to support corporate priorities


Continuous Improvement
  • Contributes to the advancement of agile practices within the organization
  • Supports the team as they expand their knowledge and application of business analysis tools, security practices and training, industry trends, and emerging technologies (i.e., artificial intelligence, etc.)
  • Ensures that the team prioritizes time to enhance and modernize business support processes and system solutions
  • Drives continuous improvement and optimization of CMPA systems, ensuring they remain aligned with evolving business trends
  • Supports the development and growth of the team so they can do their best work, stay informed on the latest technologies that will benefit our business partners, and ensures that desired standards and approaches are followed


Change Enablement
  • Ensures that larger implementations and upgrades include appropriate end-user learning, communications, and change support


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4-year Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or an equivalent field of study
  • Minimum 7-9 years of relevant experience in business analysis, process design and methodologies, and project management
  • Business Analyst and/or Project Management Professional certification is an asset
  • Minimum 1-year experience in leading teams or project teams
  • Experience providing user support and advice, analyzing data, working in cross-functional departments, facilitating meetings, and delivering presentations
  • Experience in coordinating projects, including understanding the project management lifecycle
  • Formal training or demonstrated experience in leading initiatives using agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems (i.e., SugarCRM, Workday, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience with Workday Financial Management and Human Capital Management (HCM)

POSTING DETAILS
  • Job Type: Regular full-time opportunity
  • Salary Range: $115,400 to $154,400 - this role is classified as level 10
  • Location: Hybrid - Primary Remote Job. You can work from a home-based office the majority of time, with regular on-site presence at the CMPA office (up to 1-2 days per week). If you prefer to work in an office setting as your primary workspace, you can choose to work out of the CMPA's office located in Ottawa, Ontario near the beautiful Dow's Lake.
