About the role:

Category Merchandising Manager shapes our product assortment, vendor relationships, and overall business strategy. Working across departments, this role will craft assortment strategies that align with customer preferences, regional and store specialty needs, drive revenue growth, and enhance brand loyalty. This role involves overseeing the end-to-end buying process, from gathering regional and store specific feedback, writing orders, managing store allocations, negotiating terms with vendors, collaborating with cross-functional teams to effectively sell through the assortment. The CMM will be responsible for executing pricing and promotional strategies, analyzing market and customer trends, and contributing to the success of the business by achieving revenue, margin, and inventory performance goals.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and implement product assortment strategies that align with customer preferences, regional and store specialty needs and budget goals, ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiating discounts, terms, and identifying growth opportunities to enhance the product lineup.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Planning, Marketing, Store, and Digital Content to develop seasonal assortment plans and ensure cohesive strategies.
  • Influence depth and breadth of the assortment in partnership with Planning and Stores, maintaining our specialty presence.
  • Manage the complete buying cycle, including writing orders, overseeing reorders, cancellations, and closeouts, achieving vendor deadlines for optimal discounts and payment terms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, and markdown cadence to meet sales margin objectives.
  • Analyze industry trends to identify opportunities for introducing new brands and products to market, keeping Christy Sports at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Monitor sales and margin performance, inventory positions, and propose adjustments as needed to achieve margin goals and meet business objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • 5 years' experience in buying, merchandising, or a related field, with a strong track record of successfully managing product assortments and vendor relationships.
  • Proven negotiation skills that have resulted in increased margin, assortment access, or marketing benefits
  • Proven strong analytical skills that have resulted in better product buying decisions?
  • Ability to work well under pressure while remaining flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organization is a must.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
  • Passion for snowsports and/or retail industry

Budgeted range starts at: $75,000 - $95,000 annually. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

**Bonus eligible based upon company performance indicators
