ESSENTIAL DUTIES & CORE COMPETENCIES
Responsible for operating and monitoring assigned electric power plant generation equipment under limited supervision including thermal plant equipment and their auxiliaries at the machine level. Specific responsibilities include plant preventive and corrective maintenance as well as on unit outages. Performs testing and makes operational adjustments to assigned equipment to maintain plant water chemistry based on established guidelines and procedures. Required to work a variety of rotating schedules according to business needs. Performs emergency and overtime work on short notice and at odd hours. When on-call, response time is expected to be 45 minutes or less, in fit for duty condition. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

- Assists in the sequenced startup, shutdowns and loading of assigned power and thermal plant equipment daily to meet LES and DEC dispatch needs.
- Monitors and inspects visually, audibly and via local instrumentation, and adjusts primary and auxiliary systems for assigned facilities by making routine rounds of all plant systems.
- Maintains daily logs of key operational parameters, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work conducted to correct deficiencies.
- Assists in training junior personnel in assigned power plant and thermal plant work.
- Reports operational and mechanical problems and assists in the resolution of the problems.
- Completes routine water system tests and chemical adjustments for assigned plants and systems, based on established procedures.
- Performs corrective and preventative maintenance duties as assigned and assists with testing and troubleshooting plant equipment.

- or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Ability to obtain Rokeby Generation Station (RGS), J St. Generating Station (JGS), and District Energy Corporation (DEC) Safety Certifications within six months.
