Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with LMI's overall business strategy.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation, and offboarding.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across all operating locations.
- Lead employee engagement initiatives and promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Provide coaching and support to managers and supervisors on employee relations, performance, and development issues.
- Oversee training and development programs to support employee skill growth and career advancement.
- Maintain accurate HR records and reports, including payroll support, benefits administration, and personnel files.
- Partner with senior leadership to assess staffing needs, succession planning, and workforce development.
- Manage external HR vendors, such as benefits providers and recruiters, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, EEO) in MD, DC, VA, NC, SC, WV, and FL.
- Oversee DOT and CDL compliance, including driver qualification files, hours-of-service requirements, and random drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Collaborate with LMI's Safety Manager to limit worker's compensation claims through proactive accident prevention, safety training, claims management, and return-to-work programs.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or 10 years related experience. HR certification (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR)
- Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Experience in the construction, trades, or contracting industries strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of supporting multi-location and multi-state operations, including DOT/CDL-related requirements.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in HRIS software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid understanding of labor laws and regulations (federal, state, and local) in MD, DC, VA, NC, SC, WV, and FL, as well as DOT regulations for CDL drivers.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, planning, and leadership abilities.

Work Environment and Travel
- This role will be based at the primary office location.
- 45-50 hrs. per week
- Periodic travel (up to 5%) to other branches and job sites is expected to conduct trainings, attend meetings, and address HR-related matters.
