Job Description
The Civil Project Engineer will lead technical design for a team of Civil Engineers, Planners, and Designers. Projects specialize in land development, including sustainable design, utility design, site plans, and stormwater management design. The Civil Engineer will utilize their expertise in design and development for commercial, retail, and school/institutional projects. This role involves working with and reporting to the Director of Land Development.
Responsibilities
The office is located in Grand Rapids, MI. The schedule averages 40 hours per week with a hybrid arrangement (3 days in office, 2 days remote). The company boasts a team-oriented yet independent culture, is 100% employee-owned, and has been established for 65 years with offices in Rochester Hills, Novi, and a newly opened office in Grand Rapids. This role offers an opportunity to develop expertise and a project portfolio within local civil land development projects in Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Job Description
The Civil Project Engineer will lead technical design for a team of Civil Engineers, Planners, and Designers. Projects specialize in land development, including sustainable design, utility design, site plans, and stormwater management design. The Civil Engineer will utilize their expertise in design and development for commercial, retail, and school/institutional projects. This role involves working with and reporting to the Director of Land Development.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team in preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Develop plans and site plans including grading, drainage, zoning, and utilities.
- Prepare engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports.
- Evaluate land use and zoning requirements, including zoning ordinances and site plan approval.
- Prepare permit applications.
- Participate in agency review processes and approvals.
- Conduct occasional site visits to ensure project progress and construction quality.
- Collaborate directly with design team, owners/developers, architects, landscape architects, engineering disciplines, and contractors.
- Assist in training and developing junior staff.
- 5+ years of experience in Civil Land Development Projects including site plans, zoning, permitting, and design.
- EIT or PE License.
- 3+ years of experience with Civil 3D.
- PE License.
- Civil Engineering Project Management experience.
- Experience in K-12 Site Design.
