Job Summary
Provides leadership and management for BYU-Hawaii Facilities Management Department, specifically the following areas of emphasis; Shops (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry), Janitorial, Grounds, Events, Motor pool, Financial and CNA.

Expected to be present during regular office hours which are from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm except for a one hour lunch period. May be required to travel as needed for professional development.
Benefits
Approximate starting salary: $103,000 - $127,000. The wage offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description.

Primary Responsibilities
Facilities Management (65%)
- Oversees the daily operations of the Facilities Management Department, approximately 60 employees, and all related activities for the BYU-Hawaii campus.
- Develops and implements an effective system to provide and ensure the highest level of quality and preservation of the buildings and systems that make up the BYU-Hawaii campus.
- Remains detail oriented in both work product and overall appearance of the properties.
- Develops and implements an effective system to process and complete all work orders and requests for service to report the quality of the work, the responses from those departments requesting the work and the time necessary to complete the work.
Budget (20%)
- Develops and implements an effective budget preparation process and actual budget for each year, which will include necessary capital improvements and operation costs.
- Ensures the operations budget is mindful of the University's need to control costs and to be efficient with its resources.
- Develops and implements an effective system of reporting on the activities and financial transactions of the Facilities Management department for each month and year.
Training, Sustainability and Other (15%)
- Develops and implements an effective leadership training program for the employees of the Facilities Management Department that encourages employees to lead and take responsibility for their actions and work;
- Ensures each employee will receive training in the field of work to increase their skill set and abilities.
- Develops and implements an effective recycling, energy conservation program and other activities that will increase the campus sustainability.
- Prepares and presents information to the President's Council.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualification and Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management or Construction Management preferred.
- 10 years of Facilities experience with 5 years in a supervisory capacity, showing a proven track record of team building and attaining high standards of building maintenance preferred.
- Hands-on work experience in the field of maintenance or construction preferred.
- Experience with the following computer programs preferred: MS Office Applications, TMA, PeopleSoft.
Skill Set
- Proven ability to work with minimal direction in a management capacity.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Dedicated to providing excellent service to the campus community.
- Ability to resolve construction related problems, disputes, and compliance issues.
- Identifies and pursues opportunities to optimize the facilities management effectiveness.
- Work requires analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties along with exercising independent thinking within the policies and standards.
- Ability to identify and recognize unsafe conditions or work practices.
- Ability to plan, organize and delegate work to achieve desired results.
