Are you passionate about driving excellence and ensuring the highest standards of quality in manufacturing? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Quality and Performance Systems to join our team and lead our quality management and continuous improvement initiatives. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure our products meet and exceed industry standards while also driving continuous improvement activities to delight our customers and deliver world class results.

How will you make a difference?

The Director of Quality and Performance Systems is responsible for leading and managing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality and performance systems within the organization. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and drives initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

What will your typical day look like?

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the Quality Management Systems: Oversight and improvement of the existing quality management system(s) to comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, ADA, APTA, FRA) and industry best practices.
  • Performance Improvement: Lead efforts to improve organizational performance through the development of outcome and performance measures, and the integration of these measures into an overall performance improvement plan.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all quality systems are compliant with relevant regulations and standards, including management audits and inspections.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze performance and outcomes data to identify trends, benchmarks, and areas for improvement.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality systems and performance metrics and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Training and Development: Oversee the training and development of staff to ensure understanding and adherence to quality systems and performance improvement protocols.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to father feedback and ensure satisfaction with products and services.


What do we want to know about you?

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree(s) preferred.
  • Extensive experience in quality systems management, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement.
  • Ideally 10 years' experience in manufacturing environment working with quality systems, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices of multi-site businesses and teams.
  • Extensive background with various quality and lean manufacturing tools and concepts such as Kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping, pull systems, Cellular Manufacturing, SMED, 6-Sigma, Quality tools, Standard Work, Kanban, Visual Controls, Mistake Proofing, TPM and statistical engineering, APQP, DFMEA, 1factory software.
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and practical use of 8D, A3, and related tools for proper root cause analysis and corrective action related reporting.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Must be hands on (not a consulting type role)

Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt

American Society for Quality CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), ASQ CQA (Certified Quality Auditor), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence - CMQ/OE

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$102,500.00-$146,000.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
