SUMMARY: The Hospitalist will provide Hospital medicine services for Alameda Health System, under employment from Alameda Health Medical Group. Services will be on-site at Highland Hospital.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
Provide safe, high-quality, and guidelines/standards-based clinical care for Alameda Health System patients who are admitted to the Hospital Medicine service at Highland Hospital. The clinical schedule will be determined by the Division Chief. The positions available include a General Hospital Medicine Position, a Nocturnist Hospital Medicine Position, or a Hybrid Position, which is a combination of the General Hospitalist and Nocturnist positions. Details are described below:
Support and contribute to the academic and teaching mission of the Division and the Department of Medicine, as directed by the Division Chief and Chair of Medicine. This includes, but is not limited to:
Participate in academic, operational, and strategic planning related to the Division.
Support the culture of collaboration and excellence in the Division and the Department.
Participate in organizational programs and committees, as directed by Division and Department leadership. This includes, but is not limited to:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Required: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
Valid DEA license
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. The positions available include a General Hospital Medicine Position, a Nocturnist Hospital Medicine Position, or a Hybrid Position, which is a combination of the General Hospitalist and Nocturnist positions. - General Hospital Medicine Position includes but is not limited to: 1860 hours/year
- Managing a teaching team with an Internal Medicine residency.
- Teaching rotating medical students who are a part of the teaching team.
- Running an attending-only team, which is a non-teaching team.
- Managing medicine consultation services with the Internal Medicine residency Residents.
- Covering swing shifts, which function as an admitting and cross-cover shift.
- Covering Jeopardy shifts, which function as the back-up attending on call.
- Covering operational shifts that are directed to throughput, transfer, and discharge of patients admitted to Highla Hospital.
- Nocturnist Hospital Medicine Position includes but is not limited to: 1540 hours/year
- Admitting patients into Highland Hospital with the Internal Medicine residency.
- Caring for the medicine patients in the hospital overnight with the Internal Medicine residency.
- Managing any urgent/emergent medicine consults overnight.
- Provide clinical support to other members of the Division, as directed by Division leadership.

- All teaching programs
- Clinical research
Participate in academic, operational, and strategic planning related to the Division.

- Medical staff committees
- Programs related to safety, compliance, and patient satisfaction.
