Position Summary:

The Finance Director is a key leadership position responsible for the overall financial management and reporting. This role ensures the hospital's financial sustainability by developing and overseeing financial strategies, budgets, reporting systems, and compliance with non-profit financial regulations. The Finance Director collaborates closely with the CFO and other leaders in the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Strategy:
  • Develop and implement long-term and short-term financial strategies to support the hospital's mission and goals.
  • Prepare and monitor annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with department heads.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve financial sustainability.

Accounting and Reporting:
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit financial regulations.
  • Manage financial audits and ensure timely submission of required filings (e.g., Form 990, Medicaid Cost Report, 401(k) audit, WC audit, and 5500).

Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable:
  • Oversee billing, collections, and accounts receivable processes to maximize revenue while maintaining patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate accounts payable process with appropriate internal controls.
  • Ensure proper management of grant funds, donations, and other non-profit-specific revenue streams.

Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to healthcare and non-profit finance.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Monitor and manage financial risks, including insurance, investments, and liabilities.

Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Provide financial leadership and manage day to day operations of the Finance Department.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to ensure effective operations and professional development.


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's degree preferred). Additionally, Bachelor's degree in Finance (or related experience) will be beneficial.
  • CPA designation or equivalent financial certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit financial management, including restricted funds and grant reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., hospital-specific ERP systems and Accounting System other than QuickBooks). Acuamtica experience a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external business contacts
