The Lynchburg District Structure and Bridge is seeking an Inspector Senior Supervisor Structure and Bridge to join their team. The position will perform visual and tactile safety inspections of bridges and highway structures to discover damage, deterioration, and defects that would impair the life, serviceability, and safety of a structure. May supervise one or more inspection team(s). Ensure accuracy and completeness of field inspection findings. Assess critical conditions and reports findings to manager. Enter new or updated inventory and element data into InspectX. Prepare and or review bridge safety inspection reports with signatory authority.

Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver's license.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include database systems, as well as bridge inspection instruments.
- Ability to physically perform hands-on inspections of bridges and structures, work at heights, over and in water, in confined spaces, in proximity to moving traffic and in inclement weather.
- Ability to access and use required equipment.
- Knowledge of professional land surveying principle, practices, APELSCIDLA Board rules and regulations.
- Must meet minimum qualifications for a Team Leader as defined by the NBIS.
- Ability to provide daily supervision to Bridge Inspecction Teams following all applicable policies, procedures and processes in a field or office environment.
- Knowledge of bridge inspection methods and procedures, routine bridge maintenance and repair procedures, deterioration characteristics of bridge materials and common bridge types and nomenclature.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to include preparing detailed technical reports and sketches of bridges and structures, as well as apply engineering math.
- Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices to include performance management and discipline.
Additional Considerations
- Proficient in the use of InspectX.
- Proficiency with locating structures using the Roadway Network System (RNS).
- Experience administering consultant inspections and contracts.
- Completion of FHWA approved training course in the inspection of Nonredundant Steel Tension Members (NSTM).
- A combination of training, experience or education in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field desired.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office,CAD and Visio.
- Several years' experience working as a Bridge Inspection Team Leader desired.
