About the opportunity:
The Development Engineer, reporting to the City Engineer, leads Planning and Development capital projects from start to finish while managing budgets. Key responsibilities include reviewing development applications related to City infrastructure, including surface and subsurface aspects, and approving subsurface infrastructure including water and sanitary sewer modeling. Additionally, the role involves designing civil infrastructure, assisting with infrastructure master plans from the Official Community Plan, and overseeing local service area projects as needed. The Development Engineer supports project teams throughout the capital project lifecycle, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This position requires initiative and the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including internal teams, external organizations, and consultants.
About Your Background:
You have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a publicly accredited post-secondary institution recognized in the BC Transfer Guide. You must also hold or be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia. Having a Project Management certificate (CMP) or a professional project management designation (PMP) would be an asset. Ideal applicants have at least three years of experience as a licensed practicing engineer, with expertise in civil engineering, planning, design, and construction inspection, as well as municipal water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, and pumping infrastructure. Experience and familiarity with hydraulic modeling is preferred. Additionally, training and experience in project management activities related to construction, including resource planning, procurement, and financial management and analysis, are required.
