We are seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer as the Interface Lead to join our talented Systems Engineering team in support of the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) In-Band Command and Control (IBC2) program in Redondo Beach, CA. You will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate interface requirements for the ground C2 segment of a satellite system.
Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibility as the Sr Principal Engineer Systems - Interface Lead will be to lead the development and updating of multiple Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs). This is a key aspect of the role and will require your expertise and attention to detail. You will also support the Systems Engineering team with requirements analysis, decomposition, and allocation from system-level requirements down to lower-level requirements; translating and mapping CONOPS and use cases into requirements; interface definition; developing requirement specifications and a requirements traceability matrix; and liaising with subject matter experts, analysts, architects, designers, and specialty engineers to ensure requirements are defined holistically, completely, and unambiguously for an integrated system.
The program uses state-of-the-art Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), maintaining all requirements, descriptive models, analytical models, cost models, and management and support functions in one common, integrated suite of MBSE tools.
This position is contingent upon program award and/or customer funding.

Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Develop and oversee the development of various behavioral diagrams to understand and document the requirements and data flows
- Create requirements in sufficient detail to provide a clear understanding to the implementation teams, capture in DOORS, and provide tracing back to interface DEFIDs and other sources
- Attend interface working group meetings with customers and representatives of assigned external element engineering organizations, as well as support program integration and test-related efforts for the associated interface
- May be assigned to support other interface engineers in developing ICDs for other ESS Elements, support requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling tasks as SE department tasking requires

Basic Qualifications:
- 8 Years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years of relevant experience with Masters; 4 Years of relevant experience with PhD
- Active DoD Secret clearance required at the time of application
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
- Experience with front end of SE "vee" requirements analysis and decomposition and generation of requirement specifications
- Must be able to lead and function as part of an experienced team in developing systems engineering products and artifacts while adhering to the program Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and other processes
- Must have experience in requirements elicitation, including using behavior diagrams as an analysis tool to understand and decompose requirements
- Demonstrated Systems Engineering skills and experience with interface engineering, including authoring of ICDs and IDDs that are DID-compliant and to DoD Standards, including message definition and processing rules, message formatting, network protocols, etc.
- Requirements include engineering and development of behavioral models and diagrams, including use cases, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Experience using DOORS or equivalent requirements management database
- Ability to collaborate and contribute to technical discussions with fellow team members, cross-organizational teams, and management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Ground and Space systems and/or Command and Control systems
- Experience with requirements verification
- Experience working with Software teams
- Top Secret/SCI clearance or ability to obtain
- Experience with Agile development
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts
