POSITION SUMMARY:

ALX Oncology has multiple catalysts coming up in the next 12-18 months for its lead candidate, Evorpacept following an exciting year in 2024 demonstrating positive data in HER2+ gastric cancer. Evorpacept is currently being evaluated in 9 clinical trials across solid tumors and hematologic cancers. In 2025, ALX Oncology will initiate trials of Evorpacept combinations in HER2+ breast cancer, and in colorectal cancer. ALX Oncology recently introduced ALX2004, a novel EGFR ADC, and announced IND clearance for this molecule that will enter the clinic in 2025. Across Evorpacept and ALX2004, there are multiple milestones expected in 2026. ALX Oncology seeks a dynamic leader with a proven track record of success in Business Development. Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, you will lead business development efforts for ALX Oncology's programs. This role will oversee identification, evaluation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of business development deals across the pipeline in concert with key stakeholder management. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting various projects related to ALX Oncology's strategy and growth.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Lead the proactive sourcing, evaluation and negotiation of high-impact strategic transactions including collaborations, licensing, equity, and acquisition opportunities
  • Negotiate and finalize strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and acquisition terms
  • Enable and lead robust decision-making through all stages of deals, including seeking approval for transactions from the Executive Team and Board of Directors
  • Oversee negotiations strategies with prospective partners, including creating collaboration structures aligned with scientific and business needs and making deal recommendations to key executive team stakeholders
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and refine business development and corporate strategies aligned with ALX Oncology's growth objectives
  • Lead and direct deal structuring, term sheet and contract development, terms and deal negotiation, and deal execution in close collaboration with internal teams, including R&D, legal, finance and others
  • Develop and maintain strong external relationships with potential partners
  • Coordinate thorough due diligence on potential transactions, including financial, legal, and operational assessments, and contribute to the valuation process via internal collaboration
  • Represent company at industry, investor, and partnering conferences
  • Establish relationships and trust while collaborating across all levels of the organization


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • A BA/BS degree required, with a preference for advanced degree (MBA, JD, MD, PhD in relevant field)
  • At least 10 years of professional work experience in business development within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, ideally at large and small companies; and oncology experience
  • Proven track record of leading transactions, successfully negotiating and executing contracts (submit deal sheet with application)
  • Experience as the external face of the organization, leading and participating in BD partnering events (e.g., JPM, BIO) and oncology conferences
  • Proven negotiation skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and presenting business cases to executive management
  • Deep industry knowledge spanning drug discovery, development, and commercialization, with experience implementing partnerships
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver, with a creative approach to deal structuring, execution, and financial modeling.
  • Excel in project management, balancing multiple priorities while driving high-performance results
  • Team player- willing to raise the tide for the team and deliver organizational goals through collaboration
  • Excellent judgment, strong organizational skills, high credibility, and leadership ability
  • Thrives in a collaborative team setting and is driven by a desire to be innovative in a high energy, small company environment
  • Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances


SALARY RANGE: $290,000 - $325,000 DOE
