SUMMARY:
The Senior Technical Sales Estimator manages a team who prepares highly detailed
technical cost estimates for manufactured rubber products, keeps stakeholders well
informed, and collaboratively resolves any issues to meet deadlines. This role applies
science and mathematical knowledge, management of projects, and professional sales
and customer service skills to serve customers in a variety of industries.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and three (3) to five (5) years of
experience or an equivalent combination.

The Senior Technical Sales Estimator manages a team who prepares highly detailed

informed, and collaboratively resolves any issues to meet deadlines. This role applies
science and mathematical knowledge, management of projects, and professional sales
and customer service skills to serve customers in a variety of industries.
JOB DUTIES
- Receives and reviews requests for customer quotations and bids from internet sources
- (e.g., Fed Biz Ops), customer inquiries, and outside sales staff.
- Prepares highly detailed cost analysis by translating customer requirements and design
- specifications to cost estimates of material, labor, and equipment and overhead costs
- incurred in the manufacture of technical projects according to company guidelines.
- Creates drawings for projects and prepares profitable customer quotations or bid
- packages.
- Maintains files to support estimates/bids including technical calculations, instructions, and
- reports.
- Makes recommendations on solutions from field customers and/or takes corrective action
- to solve issues, and determine if escalated customer service is warranted by another
- individual.
- Calls customers to create new business relationships and see how current customers
- can be further served.
- Reviews of contracts and negotiation where applicable.
- Supports business development through good working relationships with clients,
- subcontractors, vendors and internal departments to strengthen company position,
- resolve issues, and formulate estimates.
- Develops and manages master estimating models using Excel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and three (3) to five (5) years of
experience or an equivalent combination.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Strong communication skills.
- Excels in a leadership position.
- Ability to gain and apply advanced estimating strategies and techniques
- High attention to details
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
- managers, customers, and peers
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
- diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to handle
- multiple issues concurrently while maintaining a positive attitude toward customers and
- staff.
