GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)

Leads the development, execution, and oversight of technological advancement for the engineering and project delivery teams. The VDC and Technology Lead provides safe, "Best for Project" solutions for complex projects, while ensuring regulatory compliance as required for engineering deliverables. The VDC and Technology Lead is responsible for collaborating with all disciplines and team members in developing safe and effective designs. The VDC and Technology Lead supervises project delivery as appropriate and ensures quality checks of the work, teaches, mentors, and ensures continuous improvement of standards, toolboxes, and workflows.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Work in compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations for Cementation
• Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department
• Ensure all applicable safety codes and regulations are met by appropriate design and use of technology
• Be a champion for safety, advocating safe behaviour while incorporating safety into the designs produced by the group

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This description lists the core responsibilities and duties of the position. Additional duties deemed to be within the incumbent's capabilities, on an as required basis, might be assigned by management.

• Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, investigate and incorporate existing and emerging technologies for use by the engineering and construction teams to improve and advance project delivery
• In collaboration with the leadership team, create and maintain standards for virtual design and construction project delivery for efficient communication and transfer of design and construction information
• Complete design audits and work with the Design Coordinator and Engineering Manager to ensure execution is in alignment with existing design and engineering execution standards and procedures
• Support the Engineering Management and the Business Development Group in preparation of estimates, models, renderings, and animations for project proposals
• Contribute to a company culture of innovation and improvement
• Support the engineering group in any capacity as needed

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• This position has the requirement for occasional travel to conferences, project sites, offices, and to conduct shop reviews
• Travel period may range from one day to several weeks and may include overseas assignments

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Will oversee the work of engineers and designers as it pertains to VDC project delivery
• Assess the behaviour and performance of the team and provide coaching as needed
• Participate in group recruiting efforts by preparing candidate requirements, interviewing, assessing, and recommending candidates, and managing the probationary period

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is preferred
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer
• Experience in design of Underground Mining or Heavy Industrial Infrastructure is preferred
• Experience in VDC delivery and advanced understanding of Autodesk products and their interdependencies
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
