What you will do
Role Overview:
The Field Support Engineering Technician III will support the Operations Department in the optimization of wind farm performance.
Main responsibilities:
Provide engineering support to on-site staff for issues relating to a) overall facility and individual turbine operational performance, b) facility infrastructure, including substations, collection systems, communication systems, roads, etc., and c) administration and oversight of service provider agreements
Monitor facility operating statistics as compared to expected performance and address positive and negative operational trends
Collaborate with wind and performance assessment staff to ensure proper equipment operation and to maximize facility performance
Support turbine supply, balance of plant, and other contract origination and budgeting activities
Support development and construction plans and activities in the balancing of build costs and operability
Assist management information and on-site operating staff with technical and quality issues
Interface with engineering, accounting, development staff, and other internal and external constituents
Support the commissioning of new wind farms
Review progress and effectiveness of maintenance scheduling and planning
Act as on-the-ground point of contact for operational excellence, best practices, and SOP programs
Execute root cause analysis
Work closely with Technical Manager and corresponding Asset Manager
Participate in technical & HSE audits and reviews
Support Development and Construction on wind farm engineering aspects
Solve performance and process issues affecting power plants, regardless of region
Utilize escalation process to ensure site specific issues are being effectively communicated to the FSE manager and responsible department
Share lessons learned and best practices through formal processes to ensure implementation across fleet as applicable
Build off of systems and procedures, such as work instructions in place, that are making a positive impact of availability and maintenance, and implement them across the fleet
Leads development of work instructions for maintenance, small corrective, and major component repairs and replacements

Salary hiring range: $97,440-$121,800

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- 5 years of commissioning and wind industry experience including industrial controls and hydraulics
Travel:
up to 50%

- Ability to perform duties independently and remotely as needed
- Ability to manage facility emergencies at all hours
- Ability to quickly learn new software programs

Physical demands & working conditions:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites. Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
- Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 60 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 60 and 100 pounds
- Climbing:
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on wind farm sites
- Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
