We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, professional individual to join our Finance team in the Senior Analyst - Projects and Capital role. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting and Procurement, the Senior Analyst - Projects and Capital is responsible for the accurate and complete set up of all projects (capital, expense, and time tracking) within the AESO's ERP, along with ownership of the day to day and monthly activities related to administration and reporting on corporate projects. This position plays a pivotal role in tracking total project budget, including governance of budget adherence and project controls for the program managers, and provides reporting to senior management. This role works collaboratively with the capital accountant on monthly project-related transactions (treatment of capital and expense) and quarterly and annual reporting related to work in progress, capital commissioning, retirements and disposals, ensuring accuracy in results and reporting.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Ownership of the Corporate Capital Management Program including reporting to senior management, maintenance of the related SharePoint site, analysis and oversight during the annual budget process.
- Coordination and confirmation of monthly time sheet closure activities.
- Monitoring appropriate allocation of project costs between capital and expense.
- Accurate set up of project assets, ensuring validity of the assets as commissioned.
- Assist with monthly capital accounting transactions providing direction to ensure understanding and accurate treatment.
- Collaborate with the Workday support team for troubleshooting and optimization of project and asset-related processes.
- Establish and manage change around new processes, business changes or modifications to external and internal reporting requirements.
- Compilation of quarterly audit committee and stakeholder reporting related to projects and capital costs.
- Provide onboarding and continuing support to project managers for project set up and management within Workday.
What you'll bring to us:
- Professional CPA accounting designation or actively pursuing, or relevant work experience or in lieu of an accounting designation.
- 10+ years of related work experience as a project and/or capital accountant/analyst requiring an application of judgement though independent work in dynamic and non-routine activities.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, most notably IAS 16 and 38, is desired.
- Working knowledge of Workday ERP considered an asset, if not Workday then another integrated ERP system (such as SAP or Oracle)
- Capital budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Proven experience working with a variety of project managers for project set up activities and ongoing maintenance and support.
- Highly adaptable in learning and working with new systems and software.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including ability to manipulate and analyze high volumes of data using advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
- SharePoint and/or Power BI experience is desired.
