Position Summary
A career in Accounting will provide the opportunity to prepare monthly financial statements provided to senior management; prepare GAAP financial statements and manage the internal and external review for these documents. This typically includes monitoring and ensuring timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance, providing US GAAP interpretation and preparing technical memorandums that document issues in a clear, logical and comprehensive manner; assisting in the coordination of annual audit activities of external auditors; supporting corporate senior leadership with financial reports, data and analysis as needed.

Compensation Range:
$84,000 - 134,400
We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate's qualifications, education, and experience.

Essential Functions:
- Lead accounting for South Jersey Gas, Inc. providing direction, motivation, and guidance to the team. This is a great opportunity to join a stable and growing Company.
- Directly supervises accountants while providing direction and leadership
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis as part of the monthly and quarterly close
- Research accounting issues, summarize and document findings
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and FERC
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls
- Formal financial statement preparation and review including footnotes
- Ensure accuracy of regulatory filings (rate case support and Board of Public Utilities annual report)
- Champion process improvements
- Employee performance management and development
- Independently ensures issues are driven to resolution
Required Skills:
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Knowledge of SOX Controls
Preferred Skills:
- Previous direct supervisory experience
- Knowledge of regulated utilities
- C.P.A
Qualifications
Required Background:
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
