Collins Aerospace is looking for a Designer and Drafter Engineer to support Power and Controls Engine and Control Systems.
The Designer and Drafter Engineer will be reporting to the Product Definition (PD) Design team lead, the role defined here combines two key areas of expertise, product design and product analysis, and the successful applicant will have the skills and flexibility to support both roles.
As a designer, you will work directly with engineering staff to produce 3-D models and 2-D layout drawings of the product to meet both engineering and customer requirements. When analyzing a design, you will create tolerance build ups and fit checks to support hardware functionality and Source control drawing creation, ensuring the model and drawings accurately define Engineering intent. Experience with industry specifications and knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is used to ensure all drawings are complete.

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

What You Will Do
- Verify electrical harness routings, creating concept items in NX, and comparing to supplier interface definition/drawings.
- Ensure accuracy of Clearance Envelopes, Assembly Removal studies, and Fit Checks for correct fit and alignment on engine, and performance of complex assembly drawings to customer model.
- Work with engineering for initial 2D concept of product
- Create 3-D product models, outlines, and layouts with Model Based Definition (MBD).
- Create solid model piece parts and wiring harnesses in NX.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to support product failure investigations.
- Create assemblies in NX and manage the Bill of Materials review.
- Background with Pratt and Whitney Engine Programs preferred with validating mechanical interface requirements.
- Draft source control and engineering drawings.
- Support Engineering, Drafting, and Design standard work policy and procedure initiatives.
- Responsible for the interface design and definition requirements for Production and Development projects.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience working in CAD tools (NX), PLM (Teamcenter) and NX Manager.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office suite including SharePoint.
- Experience working with 3D Modeling, Drafting and GD&T.
- Knowledge of Systems interface and fit checks.
- Experience ensuring proper filing, control, and export classification.
