The Safety and Human Performance Practitioner will:
PURPOSE:
The Safety and Human Performance Practitioner isresponsible for monitoring compliance with safety procedures and implementing the human performance program in our manufacturing facility in Kanata, Ontario.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $ $74,000.0 and $ $116,000.0 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.

The Safety and Human Performance Practitioner will:
PURPOSE:
The Safety and Human Performance Practitioner isresponsible for monitoring compliance with safety procedures and implementing the human performance program in our manufacturing facility in Kanata, Ontario.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Field observation and coaching with respect to human performance.
- Investigate events, analyze root causes and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
- Collect and analyze data for trending.
- Act as a first point of contact for addressing employee concerns regarding health and safety.
- Develop communications related to safety and human performance.
- Participate in pre-job briefings and team meetings.
- Lead Human Performance Employee Teams.
- Instruct on the use of Human Performance tools in the field.
- Assess and propose methods to strengthen safety culture.
- Respond to safety events and emergencies.
- Monitor for compliance to Occupational Health and Safety requirements (e.g., personal protective equipment, hazardous substances, working at heights, machine guarding, lift truck operation, cranes, confined space, fire protection, respiratory protection).
- Perform workplace inspections.
- Conduct job hazard analyses.
- Maintain awareness of all work being performed in the manufacturing area.
- Develop and deliver training to personnel at all levels in the organization.
- Interact with management and employees at various levels throughout the organization.
- Prepare and disseminate routine reports.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Normally a post-secondary graduate in a science, engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Ideally, a minimum of five (5) years' experience in industrial manufacturing with nuclear regulatory requirements.
- Experience with implementing occupational health and safety programs is an asset.
- Experience with human performance is an asset.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities.
- Must have strong technical writing, presentation and oral communication skills.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have ability to influence and work with people at all levels and proven skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Must possess exceptional analytical skills and have a high level of attention to detail.
- This position may require coverage outside normal working hours.
- 80% of the work is expected to be in the manufacturing area; 20% in an office setting.
