Job Description:
The Senior Associate, Field Engineer acts as our company's field representative at critical and highly sensitive base and remote locations, including customer and supplier facilities. This vital role supports hardware and software installation, as well as configuration and troubleshooting on complex integrated network systems. The Field Engineer supports regular, special, and integrated system test programs, including scenario-based testing, developmental testing (DT) and operational testing (OT) at company and customer locations. The Field Engineer is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in several disciplines and is highly skilled/experienced as an individual contributor and/or in a team environment.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Ability to pass FAA Class III or higher Flight Medical clearance
- Advanced knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
- Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques and procedures to the design and production of company products
- Ability to troubleshoot system problems to line replaceable unit level
- Ability to creatively evaluate the appropriate actions and procedures to resolve operator issues
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, apply and communicate technical information on a variety of new software applications and hardware systems
- Ability to translate customer requirements into workable development tasks
- Ability to build positive, lasting relationships with both customers and software development teams
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, proactively ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with applicable regulations and norms
- System testing, evaluation, maintenance, repair as well as Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) execution with customer oversight.
- Subsystem testing and evaluation, maintenance and repair
- Closely integrate with multiple engineering development teams, adding subject-matter expertise during the requirements, design, testing and implementation phases of hardware and software.
- Install electronic equipment, machines, wiring, or software programs to meet specifications.
- Ability to fabricate or assemble mechanical assemblies per released engineering/drawings
- Setup and maintain hardware/software configurations on computer networks, including software integration lab, training simulation and aircraft mission equipment.
- Provide customer technical support and assist during engineering reach back requests/service calls.
- Provide direct on-site engineering assistance for integration efforts and test events.
- Provide in-flight and post-flight test engineering support.
- Identify engineering design of hardware/software flaws, assist with corrections and resolution.
- Assist with training development and training execution, including systems training at integrator/support locations and operator training at customer locations.
- Assist Quality Assurance by providing subject matter expertise for user and scenario-based testing.
- Create ground and flight test cards to support aircraft mission systems and software checks.
- Coordinate with multiple Program Managers to provide required support within resource constraints, while following programmatic and personnel policy and procedures.
- Provide ground and flight demonstration support to partner companies and potential customers for future business development.
- Assist with new program startups and serve as a liaison to other rapid/agile acquisition programs.
- Required to perform other appropriate duties as requested, directed, or assigned and appropriately task other members of the team when necessary.
- Ability to travel up to 60% (15-25% expected), often on short notice, including occasional OCONUS trips
- Willingness and ability to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends to meet company objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Two (2) or more years experience troubleshooting technical and/or software products
- 6 months experience using Digital Multi-meters, Oscilloscope, Function Generator, circuit card testers and various other electrical test equipment.
- 6 months experience using Technical Publications, schematics, maintenance manuals to analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic malfunctions
- Must be a U.S. citizen
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance
- Two (2) or more years of experience using complex EO/IR sensor systems or gimbaled optical imaging systems
- Current holder of a FAA Class III or higher Flight Medical clearance (or the ability to pass one) strongly preferred
- Proficiency with computers (MS Windows, Microsoft Office, PuTTY, Wireshark, etc)
- Experience working in the aviation industry strongly preferred
- Experience working on a military installation or military service preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively and be able to work in a highly dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Physical Requirements:
- Required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
- Required to instruct verbally for long periods of time
- Infrequent light physical effort required
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and troubleshoot computers and associated network hardware
- May require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane
