Key Responsibilities

Verdox seeks an Electrochemical Engineer to optimize the design, performance, and operation of electrochemical carbon capture systems. This position reports to the Engineering Manager. In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with a team of chemists and engineers to characterize the system-level performance of novel, quinone-based carbon capture technology
  • Construct, operate, and maintain laboratory and pilot-scale systems
  • Apply the principles of electrochemistry and chemical engineering to quantitatively analyze test results
  • Perform a variety of analytical (e.g., UV-Vis, NMR) and electrochemical (e.g., CV, EIS) characterization techniques
  • Analyze and model data using Python, MATLAB, and Excel
  • Communicate results to team members and management in written and verbal presentations
  • Implement hardware, automation, and control improvements for laboratory and pilot-scale systems
  • Work in fast-paced chemical laboratory environment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to upholding and improving laboratory safety


Qualifications

The candidate must have the following required qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field of study
  • Hands-on chemical laboratory experience (2+ years), as demonstrated through prior work, internships, and research experiences
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and/or Excel
  • Ability to quantitatively analyze complex chemical systems
  • Comfortable working in highly-collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A preference will be shown to candidates with the following qualifications and prior experience:

  • Design, build, and test experience of electrochemical storage and conversion technologies, such as fuel cells, batteries, and reactors
  • Hands-on experience with electrochemical characterization techniques such as voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy
  • Machine shop fabrication, CAD, and prototyping
  • Working with large datasets and data visualization tools, including advanced statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with ASPEN Plus, Simulink, LabView
