The Amazon Stores Application Security Development team is looking for an innovative and self-directed Sr. Software Development Engineer to drive the development and adoption of security-focused, design and threat modeling tools used every day by builders. Contribute to securing the software development lifecycle for builder and security teams across Amazon.

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer on this team, you will design new, full-stack applications and services that enable secure software design and system threat modeling. You'll work with builders and security engineers, and lead other software development engineers across multiple teams to develop innovative user experiences and tools that delight customers. Your solutions will help drive the secure design and development of software and hardware systems being developed every day across Amazon, and increase the knowledge and security of these systems through integrations with other tools and services within Amazon Security.

Key job responsibilities

- Collaborate with software development and security engineering teams to design and build system design and threat modeling tools and experiences.

- Design new full-stack applications and backend services supporting highly interactive UIs and robust applications and APIs.

- Improve the extensibility, performance, and operational health of our existing systems.

- Raise the bar for software development, testing, and operational excellence best practices.

- Serve as a team technical leader.

- Mentor and develop teammates both technically and professionally.

- Seek out, develop, and advocate for new technologies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

- Experience with AWS or comparable cloud-based services such as Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
