Description:

Citigroup's Residential Financing & Securitization group currently employs 15 mortgage finance professionals and is seeking to add an Assistant Vice President to its securitization and advisory team.

The Residential Financing & Securitization group participates in various aspects of the U.S. residential mortgage sector, with particular focus on the non-agency market including credit risk transfer deals, seasoned performing, re-performing and non-performing collateral, new origination prime and near prime collateral, HELOC and closed end second mortgages, small balance commercial (SBC), residential transition loans (RTL) and single-family rental (SFR) markets. The business provides credit facilities to finance residential mortgage-backed assets, issues, underwrites and syndicates securitizations (as principal and agent), and provides whole loan advisory and brokerage services to large institutional clients, including the GSEs. The group works closely with mortgage trading & sales, legal, the investment bank and external deal parties.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist in the banking and syndication of mortgage-backed securitizations for Citigroup, either as an issuer for its own portfolio, or as an underwriter for third-party issuers
  • Advise third-party clients on the offering and sale of their whole loan portfolios
  • As part of a deal team, manage transactions from client engagement (as applicable) through the syndication and settlement, including, but not limited to:
    • Working with issuers (as applicable) and the trading desk to identify prospective securitization pools and evaluate deal execution alternatives,
    • Managing the rating agency process in conjunction with mortgage analytics to optimize deal structures,
    • Liaising with servicers, trustees, due diligence providers and accounting firms,
    • Reviewing all relevant disclosure documentation with internal and external counsel,
    • Preparing marketing materials and syndicate marketing messages,
    • Coordinating the deal syndication with Citi's residential syndication desk, the issuer, trading & sales, and investors,
    • Ensuring proper settlement and compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Maintain a running log of investor interest and participation across deals
  • Analyze current and historical transactions for securitization market trends, structural features, representation and warranty frameworks and other deal mechanics
  • Prepare securitization pitches and coordinate related business development activities for existing and prospective issuer clients
  • Assist management in obtaining new structure and product approvals
  • Provide leadership and training to junior members of the securitization team


Qualifications:
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in evaluating corporate transactions and structures
  • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience assisting with client development
  • Ability to track and report on business development (collect research, analyze industry trends, etc.)
  • Strong ability to multitask, be collaborative, a team player and service oriented
  • Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses
