Job Description:
OneOncology is seeking a strong Big Data Engineer for a full-time role based in Austin, TX, Nashville, TN, or remote. Our development team is a small group and the person filling this role will be an integral part of it. All team members are individually motivated, yet collaborative. We maintain a high degree of accountability and are extremely productive but believe in enjoying our time at work.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on platform builder with extensive experience in developing scalable software and data platforms. The senior software engineer engages directly with IT management, development teams, technical delivery teams, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of technology-based solutions. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision and have effective communication skills.
Responsibilities
Design robust, componentized, and adaptable processes to scale-up our business intelligence platform.
Understand big data and cloud technologies and quickly become productive with, and provide analysis on these tools.
Understand and break down requirements into discrete tasks and steps.
Deliver code consistently and quickly.
Identify inefficiencies in code or processes and recommend solutions.
Be able to adapt quickly to changing requirements and priorities.
Own their code as well as effectively communicate to the team how it works
Other duties as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.
Key Competencies
Significant years of hands-on experience delivering solutions running in cloud infrastructure - preferably Azure.
Strong experience with SQL
Good understanding of OOD
Strong experience with building robust data pipelines
Experience with instrumentation, logging and alerting methods and best practices
Proactive approach to problem solving and strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues
Qualifications
5+ years of experience using SQL
3+ years of experience using Python
5+ years of experience using Databases or Data tools with a good understanding of Data Modeling
Experience with Databricks, Spark, and Delta tables preferred
Experience with lakehouse and medallion architectures preferred
Experience with Data Integration/ETL processes and tools such as Azure Data Factory
