Schwab's Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) organization offers industry-leading wealth management services to both retail and registered investment advisor (RIA) clients. The team is responsible for Schwab's wealth management strategy, while delivering industry-leading experiences, through solutions like Schwab Wealth Advisory (SWA) and Schwab Advisor Network (SAN), along with a broad range of investment products and solutions.
Within the Wealth and Advice Solutions organization, the WAS Business Unit Risk team is responsible for providing leadership and strategic support for governance, policy management, and regulatory initiatives to effectively manage risk as we deliver comprehensive wealth and advice services to both Retail and Advisor Services clients.
This Senior Manager role will report to the Director of the Risk Program team in WAS. The Senior Manager position is a strategic role and is responsible for managing and executing on our various risk programs and related change management efforts. The ability to build and foster relationships across WAS, execute on various risk program-related tasks, and apply a WAS-wide approach to strategically evolving applicable risk programs will be imperative to the success of this role. The Senior Manager position will work most closely with teams within WAS and 2LOD/3LOD partners.

Key responsibilities:
- Assuming ownership and responsibility for applicable risk programs, serving as program owner, point of contact, and/or SME.
- Strategically evolving the approach for owned risk programs by taking a WAS-wide lens and considering related risk events, issues, and testing findings.
- Assessing impact from Corporate Risk and Business policies (1LOD-/2LOD-owned) related to owned risk programs and evolving programs to ensure ongoing adherence with enterprise expectations; influencing and negotiating as needed to ensure ability to implement required changes for WAS.
- For issue management, facilitating process to engage peers across WAS Risk & Governance to evaluate impact to other relevant programs (e.g., conflicts of interest, policies, supervision practices).
- Supporting WAS initiatives by executing on risk-related change management, including control updates.
- Designing, developing, and creating WAS business-guided resources related to programs owned.
What you have
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years supervisory, risk, control, or oversight experience in financial services.
- Understanding of legal, compliance, and regulatory aspects of the financial services industry (e.g., broker-dealer, RIA).
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Series 7 & 63 licenses.
- Understanding of Schwab's EORM framework and approach; track record of translating requirements into Business Unit adherence.
- Knowledge of Wealth & Advice Solutions organization.
- Experience with maintaining and owning Business Unit risk processes and programs.
- Ability to think conceptually and propose solutions that balance effective risk management and enable business evolution.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills (negotiating, collaborating, influencing).
- Comfort with ambiguity; ability to learn quickly and thrive in a complex, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced, team environment.
