Overview

The Regional EHS Manager is responsible for EHS at the NY and NJ sites as well as providing EHS support to Repligen's Services Business Unit. The Regional EHS Manager ensures that EHS risks are managed and ensures compliance with regulatory and industry standards.

The main objective for the Regional EHS Manager is to protect our employees, customers, organization, and the environment. This role identifies potential hazards and conditions and works cross-functionally to continually mitigate risk and improve workplace operations. As the regional EHS leader, this role recommends solutions to protect workers and the environment, trains employees on how to work safely, and maintains documentation of EHS programs, procedures, and activities. This role works in conjunction with HR and other managers to manage incident claims, investigations, root cause, and to develop and verify actions for prevention.

While primarily working from the NJ facility, this role will have regular travel between NJ and NY facilities. There may be occasional travel to MA and other locations as needed.

Responsibilities
Demonstrating the ability to build trust and confidence throughout the organization and influence change using comprehensive risk assessments and data analysis
Assessing, tracking, and analyzing environmental health and safety performance.
Developing and implementing EHS programs to ensure safeguards and regulatory due diligence
Analyzing work environments, conducting inspections, and making recommendations to improve safety standards and environmental compliance practices.
Playing a vital role in emergency preparedness, response coordination, and the management of hazardous materials and waste.
Developing health and safety programs for the sites and field service personnel, creating systems that ensure employees can work in a safe and injury-free environment, and overseeing compliance with safety and environmental regulations and permits.
Providing EHS leadership, guidance, and context to the organization.
Working with the broader organization to shape the EHS strategy for the organization and help implement locally while thinking globally.
Helping to translate corporate EHS objectives to actionable activities locally through employee engagement.
Developing and implementing the EHS Management System framework with local procedures that effectively focus on safety and environmental compliance.
Continuously reviewing hazardous material requirements, use and disposal at the organization to ensure safe and proper handling with all required documentation.
Implementing a Vendor / Contractor EHS compliance program ensuring vendors are fully aware of their requirements related to EHS when performing work on site.
Improving EHS record generation and maintenance to provide evidence of EHS activities and demonstrate compliance.
Training employees on EHS issues in a systematic way from onboarding and orientation and continuous learning activities.
Organizing, training and leading site cross-functional EHS Committees.
Engaging cross-functionally to highlight and inspire awareness and open communication regarding issues of team safety at the organization for both internal, external, and remote staff.
Reporting on the status, activities, and effectiveness of EHS Programs to the broader management team.
Investigating and documenting any accidents or incidents that occur at the organization with a focus on learning, understanding, and preventing.
Acting as the primary liaison with other Repligen Sites and EHS leaders on issues and initiatives related to EHS policies, programs, and activities.
Ensuring timely and effective communication and escalation to raise EHS issues to the appropriate levels of management, including notifications to senior management of critical issues and plans for remediation or resolution.
Working with the landlord (building owner) to mitigate any EHS issues that arise during the operation of the business.
Acting as primary point of contact for EHS-related regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Sciences Required.
  • 5-10 years working in a manufacturing environment with 2-3 years in a leadership role required.
  • Certification (CHMM, CSP, CIH) Preferred.
  • Environmental, OSHA and other Safety Regulations Required.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems required
  • 5+ years working under an ISO 9001 based QMS required.
  • Strong computer, attention to detail, and recordkeeping skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong ability to promote and influence EHS required.
  • Partnership, collaboration and teamwork mindset. Able to work well with stakeholders when resolving EHS concerns required.
