The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing the HR team and the HR functions including HRIS and Total Rewards programs. This role assists the HR Director in partnering with leaders on employee relations, talent development, and performance management. Moreover, the HR Manager is a driver for employee engagement and culture, leadership communication, and changes in management. This person provides assistance, interpretation, guidance, and consultation to leaders on HR policies, guidelines, programs, and practices.

This position will mostly work indoors - in an office setting while using a computer. This role works in an office located in a high-alpine environment in all types of weather conditions. There is frequent interaction with employees, both electronically and in person. There is a high amount of traffic through the HR offices throughout the day. Traveling and riding a chairlift may be required for this role. Some work from home may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise the HR team which consists of the HR Coordinators and Talent Acquisition Specialist
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Be responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead direct reports to ensure a high-performing team that is compliant with state and federal laws and is focused on delivering effective programs, processes, and exceptional employee experience
- Responsible for managing HR functions, including total rewards, and policy/procedure development and implementation
- Act as a steward of the company culture and values by demonstrating best practices and mindsets to facilitate a culture of accountable, high-performing, and engaged employees
- Manage the HR Coordinator in administering the employee housing program, uniform inventory, data processing, and other day-to-day HR responsibilities
- Manage the Talent Acquisition Specialist in executing full-cycle recruitment strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational hiring goals, compliance with employment laws, and delivery of a positive candidate experience
- Supervise and coordinate the scheduling, performance, and compliance of employee shuttle drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and timely transportation services that meet company standards and regulatory requirements
- Champion initiatives that promote a culture of belonging and inclusion by supporting diverse employee engagement efforts and ensuring equitable practices across all levels of the organization
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local employment and legal requirements
- Manage the HRIS system (Paylocity) to ensure compliance; utilize applicable HRIS capabilities to maintain or increase efficiencies across the ski area
- Manage the administration of all benefit plans (health, 401(k), etc.), including working with insurance providers, brokers, A-Basin leadership, and other related parties
- Administer the company's open enrollment and stay updated on industry trends to ensure the company's offerings remain competitive
- Successfully manage and resolve employee complaints and/or conflicts; coach employees towards effective working relationships and maximizing performance outcomes
- Conduct internal investigations as required
- Assist the HR Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive HR training program; ensure ongoing training and reinforcement of skills for leaders
- Manage the implementation of the Employee Handbook and other company guidelines in conjunction with other leaders of the organization
- Manage the HR department's use of the HRIS; ensure proper retention of employee records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in HR or related field - preferred
- PHR or SPHR certification - preferred
Experience Requirements:
- Previous HR experience - preferred
- Previous management experience - preferred
- Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus
- Profound knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential information
Skills Required:
- Ability to anticipate and plan for changes in internal and/or external operating conditions and business needs

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and navigate stairs in snowy, slippery conditions
- Ability to: bend, twist, kneel, pull, push, and lift up to 30 lbs

- Must pass a motor vehicle records and criminal background check
- Must be available on weekends and holidays
