Job Title: Director of Digital Learning Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer Pay Grade: Tech 9

Dept. /School: Technology Division Days: 227

Supervises: Digital Learning Specialists and Online Program Manager

Primary Purpose: Continuously evaluate student learning district-wide, determine areas of support needed by classrooms teachers and district staff and guide development of these supports by the department.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate, master's degree preferred.
  • Professional teaching certification

  • The ability and reliability to lead the interactions of others in a team environment
  • Proven organizational skills and time management.
  • Ability to speak publicly and present professional learning to any number of district staff.
  • High level understanding of education technology pedagogy and digital integration strategies.
  • Interest in taking risks and trying new things as well as to encourage others to do so


Experience:

  • Five (5) years successful classroom teaching in elementary and/or secondary
  • Experience in design and delivery of professional learning
  • Successful management of a team of 5 or more

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support and carry out the district strategic plan for learning by enhancing the student experience with education technology integration
  • Design implementation of new programs and necessary support during implementation of new programs through cooperation with other departments
  • Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with the Information Technology Department, Technology Support Department and Information Systems Department in the implementation of technology programs, processes, or procedures
  • Plan for and engage in professional learning to update knowledge of content, programs, methods, and state/federal guidelines as they relate to instructional technology
  • Supervise assigned personnel to ensure that all responsibilities are met effectively
  • Collaborate with the curriculum department and other departments to integrate digital learning standards and activities into teaching and learning
  • Work with campus and district administrators to create plans for the design and delivery of professional learning
  • Provide guidance for schools in the effective use of campus libraries to support increased student literacy in collaboration with appropriate district curriculum leaders
  • Assist department to keep staff informed about current research and best practices for educational technology
  • Assist coordinators in the recruitment and selection of department specialists
  • Assist with the implementation of online programs, processes and educational subscriptions
  • Other duties as assigned
