Strategic Project Delivery Senior Manager, Life and Annuity Actuarial

POSITION LOCATION

Richmond, VA

YOUR ROLE

As a member of the Life and Annuity Actuarial Product Support and Special Projects team within the Life and Annuity Actuarial organization, you will play a key role in supporting cross-functional strategic projects and modernization initiatives. You will be the primary liaison for various requests between our teams and key third parties such as external auditors, consultants and/or contractors. Your understanding of actuarial and finance processes, familiarity with corresponding IT processes, and general knowledge of Life and Annuity insurance products is critical to defining and tracking the actuarial workstreams for various strategic and cross-functional initiatives.

What you will be doing

• Manage complex and cross-functional projects for actuarial teams, often interacting with external vendors
• Assist actuarial leaders in developing work plans and understanding dependencies
• Facilitate actuarial project meetings, ensuring that updates are comprehensive and inclusive of prioritized status, discussion/decision items, next steps and follow-ups as needed
• Create visual materials to promote understanding and discussion
• Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) reviews and advocate for appropriate prioritization of defects
• Coordinate control evidence submission and financial reporting questions with external auditors

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• At least 10 years of relevant experience with actuarial, risk or finance teams
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple, and sometimes changing, priorities
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic relationships and lead technical teams (actuarial/finance) on projects crossing organizational boundaries
• Understanding of Life and Annuity insurance products
• Experience working with IT professionals to accomplish shared objectives
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills
• Effective communication, teamwork and leadership skills
