Description:

The Production Superintendent oversees product manufacturing, finished product quality, and raw material management for multiple lines in a 24-hour manufacturing process. This role also includes employee training and development. The superintendent is responsible for communicating and supporting corporate goals and facility targets for safety, productivity, and product quality, effectively solving problems, troubleshooting process issues, and developing corrective actions. Additionally, the superintendent may assume the responsibilities of the plant manager in their absence.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Actively support the improvement of safety performance by reducing incident rates and lost time accidents to zero.
  • Quality: Manage product manufacturing, finished product quality, and raw material management for the operation.
  • Supervision: Oversee manufacturing resources to meet production goals and assist in preparing budgets and standards for cost measurement.
  • Controls: Develop and administer material and labor usage controls and metrics.
  • Planning: Plan and schedule work to utilize equipment and maintain maximum productivity levels.
  • Indicators: Utilize operating indicators for control of product cost, material usage, machine downtime, expenditure control, and other shift functions.
  • Compliance: Ensure production activities comply with company policies and procedures and that manufactured goods meet finished product specifications.
  • Regulations: Maintain strict compliance with all financial, legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements within the operation.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, engineering, or a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of operational leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and solve process issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work and partner with the plant leadership team.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of SAP or ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Manages a staff of 10 supervisors, 2 process engineers, and a process technician, and indirectly manages a team of 360 union hourly employees. Sets direction and deploys resources. Responsible for performance evaluations, pay reviews, hiring, and terminating.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to and including 25 pounds.
  • Minimal travel required (0-10 days per year).
  • Work environment typical of a manufacturing facility; may be exposed to environmental conditions such as cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust, mist, gas fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
