  • POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Develop and Maintain Financial Reports in Workday: Serve as the primary developer and subject matter expert for Workday financial reporting across UW Medicine, creating and maintaining a wide range of reports and dashboards that support decision-making for stakeholders.

  • Drive Financial Process Improvement: Partner with leadership to improve financial reporting processes and tools, ensure data accuracy and integrity, streamline workflows, and enhance user efficiency across the health system.

  • Collaborate Across Departments and Systems: Coordinate with cross-functional teams-including the UW Reporting Team, UWIT, and Finance stakeholders-to ensure reporting solutions meet system-wide needs and align with both health system and university standards.


  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

    The UW Medicine Financial Reporting team plays a critical role in supporting the health system's strategic and operational goals by delivering high-quality financial and analytical reporting. This team is responsible for producing internal, external, and ad hoc reports across the UW Medicine Health System, ensuring financial and statistical reporting is based on accurate, validated data and consistent definitions.

    In collaboration with UW Medicine Finance stakeholders and University partners, the team anchors its work in strong oversight, standardized processes, and a shared reporting platform through Workday. By doing so, it provides timely, reliable, and holistic financial insights to executive leadership and enterprise business units. The department also leads the development and maintenance of Workday financial reports and serves as a subject matter expert in supporting financial operations across UW Medicine.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, code, and maintain a range of Workday financial reports and dashboards, including custom, matrix, and composite reports using calculated fields and other standard functionalities.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather and document reporting requirements, obtain approvals, and deliver demos of proposed solutions to ensure alignment.

  • Collaborate with the UW Reporting Team to deploy reports and stay current with industry trends and Workday reporting enhancements.

  • Support financial reporting process improvements by training users, developing quality control practices, and driving technology streamlining and data integration efforts.

  • Coordinate with internal and external technical teams (UWIT, Fin-X, ISC) to address reporting access, deploy new features, and ensure the Workday platform meets business needs across the health system.

  • Contribute to department-wide initiatives through report preparation, mentorship, participation in committees and special projects, and ongoing efforts to enhance process efficiency.


  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Finance or related field

    Six-eight years of professional experience to include:

  • Proficiency in Workday Financials report development

  • Experience building and maintaining complex reporting solutions at the enterprise level, including performance tuning reports and reporting solutions including dashboards

  • Experience with ServiceNow and Jira platforms

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions within the Workday platform

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements
